The transition from high school to college is a major life shift- especially for student-athletes.

For many, sports have been a constant: a built-in community, structured routine, and a core part of identity. Whether continuing at the collegiate level or stepping away from the game, that transition can bring unexpected challenges like loss of structure, pressure to redefine identity, and navigating a new level of independence.

EMF believes preparation goes beyond physical performance. Supporting mental health, building resilience, and developing life skills are just as critical during this next chapter.

For athletes continuing their sport: the demands increase, expectations rise, and balance becomes essential.

For those moving on from sports: it’s about rediscovering purpose, building new routines, and finding new communities.

No matter the path, one thing remains the same: you don’t have to navigate it alone.

As the days start getting longer and the sun finally begins to stick around a little more, it’s a good reminder to step outside, take a breath, and check in with yourself. 🌤️

With spring right around the corner, many of us are feeling that shift in energy. But even as life picks up speed, it’s important not to leave self-care behind.

At EMF, we’re reminding our community that caring for yourself doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as getting outside for a walk, soaking up a little sunshine, connecting with someone you trust, or setting healthy boundaries with your time and energy.

As the season changes, let it be a reminder that small, consistent habits can help you reset and recharge. Give yourself permission to slow down when you need to and make space for what helps you feel your best.

A new season is almost here, take care of yourself so you can step into it feeling refreshed.

March is Self-Harm Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a struggle that too often remains hidden.

EMF believes healing begins with honest conversations, compassionate support, and the courage to reach out. Self-harm is not attention-seeking. It’s a sign that someone is carrying more than they know how to express. And no one should have to carry that alone.

This month, we’re committed to breaking the stigma, encouraging understanding, and reminding anyone who may be struggling that their pain is valid — and help is available.

Whether you’re a parent, coach, teammate, friend, or someone fighting a private battle, your voice and your presence matter.

Let’s check in on one another. Let’s listen without judgment. Let’s create spaces where asking for help is seen as strength.

You are never alone. 💚

February was a powerful month of connection, community, and continued impact for Eric Monday Foundation.

We were honored to host a special fundraiser on February 26th alongside Mayor Linda Colbert at our incredible community partner, Vienna Inn, as part of their 66th Anniversary celebration.

Our founders, Brian and Holly Monday also attended the VHSL State Wrestling Championship, continuing conversations with student-athletes, families, and coaches about the importance of mental health in competitive sports.

This month also marked an exciting milestone: all FCPS Spring Coaches are participating in our training program, expanding awareness and equipping leaders with tools to better support student-athletes both on and off the field.

And the conversations are growing beyond the field, as Brian was recently a guest on a mental health podcast (more to come there), helping further the dialogue around mental health, resilience, and community support.

Every event, every training, and every conversation moves the mission forward. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with us. We can’t wait to tackle March with you all!
