Trainer Tip Tuesday: get yo squats right! 🍑🔥
A lot of people complain about knee pain when doing squats and so they just don’t do them. But squats are one of the best exercises you can do for functional strength and to build the peach! 🍑
1️⃣one of the biggest mistakes most people do, is bending the knees too much and too soon. This makes the knees go forward and past the toes and puts too much stress on the knees. I always teach people to bend their hips first (stick butt back) and then bend the knees to bring the butt towards the ground.
2️⃣you can use a box/bench to help you learn the pattern of squatting. If you’re new at squatting or if you have a really bad squat, I would suggest to do sit to stands so that you can relearn the squat pattern and really learn how to bring your butt back and down.
3️⃣use a band around the knees so that you’re prompted to open your knees out. When you open up your knees you’re able to lower your butt more while maintaining an upright back, otherwise your upper body would just keep folding forward.

These two videos were taken two years apart! The one on the left was from two summers ago and the one on the right was taken just yesterday.
I remember posting the video on the left to show how ripped I was and that I could do a pull up 🙈 little did I know that I would look 10x more ripped and that I would be able to do so many more pull ups two years later!
Here’s the thing though, this didn’t just happen by chance. These gainz didn’t just miraculously fall into my hands or were handed down the gainz gods 😂 it took a lot of hard work, dedication, discipline and most importantly faith in the work I was putting in. You have to trust the process and show up everyday even though the results won’t show right away.
So if you’re struggling to see any results in your strength and fitness, look at the consistency of your work. Are you really putting in the work everyday? If you are, continue to do it; the results will come, I promise! If you’re not putting in the work, hen get to work! Now! 👊🏼
