It’s that time of year again! The GACSB 27th Annual Leadership Conference will take place October 26–28, 2025, at the Legacy Lodge and Conference Center at Lake Lanier.

We are now seeking proposals for presentations. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of Georgia’s public behavioral health and IDD system, while gaining exposure to nearly 200 CSB leaders and key stakeholders across the state.

Community Service Board of Middle Georgia Awarded Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Byrne Discretionary Grant

The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia (CSBMG) proudly announces that we have been awarded a substantial grant under the FY 2024 OJP Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program. This award of $1.356 million is designated to support the “CSBMG Behavioral Health & Overdose Reduction Initiative” – a new initiative that will enhance the agency’s efforts in providing comprehensive substance abuse and behavioral health services, with particular focus on reducing overdoses, across our 16-county rural service area.

The GACSB shares in the remembrance of Dr. Ellice P. Martin, who passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Dr. Martin served as President of the GACSB from 2009-2011 and as Vice-President and Chair of the Public Image & Policy Committee for two years prior to being elected President, all while serving as a faithful Board Member of Unison Behavioral Health. She retired from Unison's Board of Directors upon being appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

Dr. Martin was a dedicated educator and leader with a mission to make life better and brighter for everyone she came into contact with. Her passion to serve locally and statewide leaves a legacy for us all to aspire to and forever an inspirational imprint on our lives in that with everything she did, she did it from her heart.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, July 10, 2024, at 11 am at Homerville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery with Rev. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 pm at Homerville United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Homerville United Methodist Church Children's ministries or the S. Walter Martin Scholarship at Valdosta State University.

Please help us welcome Ashley Allen as Gateway CSB Chief Executive Officer!

Ashley Allen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her BSW and MSW form the University of Georgia. She also holds a Doctor of Social Work in Administrative Leadership from the University of Kentucky. Ashley has 17 years of experience in leadership within the behavioral health sector across Pennsylvania and Georgia. She has a rich background and experience including leadership in Georgia’s safety net and in the community at large. She joined Gateway CSB in 2023 as the Chief Operating Officer and became Chief Executive Officer in 2024. Prior to joining Gateway, Ashley held various leadership roles at River Edge Behavioral Health, a prominent CSB based in Macon. In 2022, Ashley was recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine’s annual 40 under 40 awards.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys theme parks, cheering on the Dawgs, and spending time with her chiweenie, Scout. Gateway Community Service Board
