This brand new book came in the mail this week. I am so glad to have this children’s resource for little ones that may deal with negative thinking patterns and anxiety. At the end of the book, there are several pages of scripture to ground the reader in truth.

I love to resource people with great, biblically-grounded materials. has been an author I’ve recommended to clients, family, and friends for years. I’m so excited about his children’s book about sibling relationships (coming out soon). I had a chance to read it already! It is a beautiful picture of pursuing and enjoying relationships, even when it’s messy.

Meet Cari! 👋 Cari serves as the administrative assistant for West Georgia Christian Counseling.

Cari Carter is excited for the opportunity to serve families at West Georgia Christian Counseling by providing a warm and welcoming environment. She enjoys coordinating calendars, client communications, and office operations support.

Cari Carter and her family moved to Georgia in 2015. She is a homeschool mom of 3 kids and has been married for 17 years. Cari grew up in a military family and has had the blessing of moving to many different places throughout the U.S. during her childhood.

Cari has served in many volunteer roles in the church throughout her adult life to include directing a homeschool co-op, serving as a leader of small groups, and she currently serves alongside her husband as the Director of Small Groups at their current church. In her spare time, Cari enjoys drinking coffee that costs too much money, spending time with friends and family, playing card games, attending women’s ministry events, and watching the Philadelphia Phillies.

Whew! Experiencing panic is tough. It’s not easy to experience it, but inevitably it happens in this broken world.

This is one of the most common resources I send to individuals, so I thought I’d share it here.

Engaging our five senses deactivates the emotional part of the brain, allowing us to calm down and access our “thinking brain”. 🧠

📚 As a Christian therapist for children and adults, I often recommend reading social emotional books to help teach kiddos a variety of skills. Here are three books that I recommend often for emotional intelligence.
—“What Am I Feeling?” By Dr. Josh And Christi Straub.
This book integrates faith and psychology well, communicating in a developmentally appropriate way for children. It breaks down the steps to self-regulation utilizing evidenced-based strategies and most importantly, conveying biblical truths.
—“In My Heart” by Jo Witek. This book is a simple book, even great for little readers. This book is great for a simple prompt to increase emotional awareness. I love using this as an opportunity to have a conversation that we can use all emotions to glorify God.
—“What Do I Do with Anger?” by Dr. Josh And Christi Straub. This is another great one that helps kids learn about the purpose of anger with some specific tools to help regulate during anger.
There are so many great books available. What books are your favorites to read to your child right now?
