Hereâs 5 signs your posture is affecting your health:
1. You sit for work - sitting is the new smoking. Practically everyone sits at a desk all day at work, and letâs be real⌠weâre not A+ students when it comes to being seated properly. Chances are youâre hunched over for well over 6 hours a day and that has a lot to do with the constant aches and pains you feel
2. You travel a lot for work - how many times have you gotten out the car after being on the road for hours and think âwow I feel amazingâ. The reality is being in a car most of the day whether itâs traveling for work or leisure takes a toll on our body, especially the low-back and hip flexors
3. Pain without trauma - if you get random days where your body just isnât feeling right, those arenât random, theyâre your body telling you thatâs itâs been in a dysfunction for quite some time and itâs showing you that. This can be consistent headaches, shoulder pain, upper back or lower back pain, etc
4. When you sit upright it hurts - if youâve gotten this far, chances are youâre probably sitting up tall or adjusted your posture a bit since reading this. When our body is trained to be in a dysfunction hours for weeks and weeks, the supporting muscles get weak and tight. Then when you sit upright, you get fatigued relatively quick. Thatâs a clear sign your muscles need to be trained into functional status
5. You havenât had your ergonomics checked - Chances are you havenât had anyone take a look into your daily activities to see if youâre doing yourself a disservice. You can try to get the most comfortable chair for work but that wonât stop your slouching. On your feet a lot doing house chores? Chances are youâre standing with anterior pelvic tilt which flares up the back. Love to stay fit and cycle? Itâs a good idea to get your ride setup checked to ensure itâs optimal for your body.
