A huge thank-you to everyone at Mercy Regional Medical Center for their generous contribution to Solacc Ville Platte Campus' Food Pantry!

Donations are accepted and appreciated year-round. The pantry welcomes nonperishable items, as well as quick, warmable foods that help students recharge between classes (e.g., cup noodles, Nutri-Grain bars, cereal, mini boxed milks, Chef Boyardee, Lunchables, cases of water, and similar items).

According to a 2021 survey conducted at SoLAcc, 52% of participating students reported experiencing a time when they did not have enough food for themselves while attending the college. Additionally, 69% indicated that their food supply was inadequate at least once or twice each semester, if not more often. Students also expressed strong support for an on-campus pantry, with 87% stating they would use one if it were available.

As the holiday season begins, we encourage our community to join us in supporting these students!

🌟 Congratulations Stars of the Quarter! 🌟
Please join us in celebrating these outstanding team members who continue to go above and beyond for our patients, coworkers, and community.

⭐ Non-Clinical Star: Jessica Edwards – Registration Clerk
“Jessica shows excellent work ethic and dedication to her job. She is well-versed in her role and helps out in the ED when needed. She has a pleasant attitude and always has a smile when registering her patients. She is a team player and delivers excellent customer service. Great job.”
— Jessica Broussard, Chief Financial Officer

⭐ Clinical Star: Eric Fontenot – Physical Therapist
“Eric delivers quality care with compassion. He is a very positive person, which makes him very easy to work with. Eric takes the initiative to get things done whether or not it is ‘part of his job duties.’ He rolls with the flow when going back and forth between the hospital and outpatient and does it with a smile. Eric always has his documentation done on time. It is a pleasure working with him. He is a great asset to this hospital and his patients.”
— Mary Katherine Brown

⭐ Manager Star: Shanna Thomas – Director of Pharmacy
“Shanna Thomas is what anyone would ask for in a coworker, boss, or friend. Over the 20 years that Shanna has worked for Mercy Regional, she has put in countless hours thinking of others. She has not only done her managerial duties but has picked up the slack in any area she could. She has picked up shifts from other Allegiance hospitals, worked as a staff pharmacist, and even filled in as a pharmacy technician without complaint or additional compensation. Regardless of what is going on in her professional or personal life, Shanna comes to work to make the hospital, staff, and patients’ lives better. When asked a question about a patient’s medical condition or medication order, Shanna does not stop researching and investigating until she gets an answer. Even when she is not at the hospital, she will go above and beyond to give you an accurate, well-thought-out response. She truly cares about what is best for the patient and helps others learn and succeed in their positions—whether pharmacist, tech, nurse, or physician. Shanna is always offering a helping hand not only in the pharmacy department but throughout the Allegiance family. She takes and receives orders for many of the surrounding clinics and various departments throughout the hospital. We in the pharmacy department are very blessed and thankful to have Shanna as our manager. We wholeheartedly believe she deserves to be the Star of the Quarter.”
— Morgan Kigerl & the whole Pharmacy Department

🎉 Congratulations to Jessica, Eric, and Shanna! Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence. We are proud to have you as part of the Mercy Regional family!
