Obit for Anthonette (Kocher) Sievers
Anthonette (Kocher) Sievers, 86, of Vincennes, IN, passed away Wednesday February 11, 2026 at Villages at Oak Ridge Nursing Center. Anthonette was born November 23, 1939 in Vincennes, the daughter of Wilfred and Grace M. Land Kocher. She was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School, on April 28, 1962, she married Samuel “Sam” Sievers, and they made their life together for nearly 64 years. Anthonette was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic community. She taught religious education for over 40 years at Sacred Heart, Flaget/Rivet and St. Vincent Catholic Church. She served in anyway she could. She also worked at Flaget in the cafeteria and as teachers aid, at First Federal Savings and Loan and at Vincennes Sun Commercial. She held memberships in the Church Women United, Purdue Women’s Homemakers, Dauthters of Isabella, a former Pink Lady at Good Samaritan Hospital and president of the Friends of the Library. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Anthonette is survived by her husband, Sam Sievers, and their children, Maria R. (Jeff) Sievers -Perotti of Bloomington, IN, Robert M. (Sarah) Sievers of Mooresville, IN, Louis A. Sievers of Vincennes, IN, Laura A. Schilling of Washington, IN and Charles A. (Nadine) Sievers of Mooresville, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina Costello, Anna Schilling, Elizabeth Meier, Molly Tieman, Stephen Sievers, Grace Sievers and Tessa Perotti and by her 2 great grandchildren, Alex Meier and Sophia Costello, her brothers, Bill Kocher of Vincennes, IN, David (Ann) Kocher of Austin, TX, Harold (Susan) Kocher of Sellersburg, IN and James Kocher of Marion, IN.

Anthonette was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Grace Kocher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday February 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Obit for Cheryl L. (Cox) Carter
Cheryl L. (Cox) Carter, 67, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Heritage Center in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on September 1, 1958, in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Warren Cox and Theresa (Qualkenbush) Cox. Cheryl was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Vincennes University, where she earned her nursing degree. She dedicated more than 21 years of her life to caring for others as a nurse with various healthcare organizations. Known for her warm spirit and kind heart, Cheryl was loved by many and treasured the connections she made with everyone she met.

She truly enjoyed life and cherished time spent with her family. A devoted mother and grandmother, Cheryl found joy in simple pleasures like playing cards and Yahtzee. Her love of animals knew no bounds, especially when it came to her beloved cat, Earline.

Cheryl is survived by her children, Tara (Chris) Roe of Evansville, Indiana, and John (Brittany) Konen of Martinsville, Indiana; her grandchildren, Lauryn Roe, Max Roe, Everett Bates, John R. Konen, and Evelyn Konen; and her brother, Mike (Sharon) Cox of Vincennes, Indiana. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Meagan Bates; her parents; and her sisters, Judy Cox, Carolyn Davis, and Marcia Ferguson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Heritage Woods family and especially to Cheryl’s closest friend, Beverley Branham, for their love and care.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Cheryl will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery near her parents and sisters. Diane M. Shepard, 68, of Vincennes, passed away Saturday January 17, 2026 at her residence. Diane was born in Washington, IN the daughter of Charles and Pauline Wade Sellers. She was a graduate of Barr-Reeve High School and continued her education at Deaconess School of Nursing where she received her degree in nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at various medical facilities and she last worked at the Samaritan Center. She formerly was married to Ervin L. Shepard who survives. She attended the Nazarene Church

Diane is survived by her children, Keith Edwards and Amy Edwards both of Vincennes, her mother, Pauline Sellers of Washington, IN and a sister, Theresa Edwards of Washington, IN. She was blessed with a granddaughter, Bright Eyes Nichole Mermoud and her companion Kaiden Hackney, her great grandchildren, Brielle Hackney and Briar Hackney.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday February 3, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Dana L. (Parish)Wegehoft, 54, of Oaktown, passed away Monday January 19, 2026 at her residence. Dana was born November 10, 1971 in Vincennes the daughter of Russell C.”Junior” Parish and Diana M. Briner Parish. She was a 1990 graduate of North Knox High School and formerly worked at Gemtron. On December 14, 1996 she married Frederick Wegehoft and they made their life together until his death on April 16, 2020. She loved reading, taking care of her grandchildren and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She lived her christian faith in her everyday activities with everyone she met. She was a great friend like a sister to many.

Dana is survived by her children, Lacey (Raymond Wallace) Ellerman of Elberfeld, IN, Braden Ellerman of Oaktown, IN and Michelle (Travis) Harper of Odon, IN. She is also survived by har grandchildren, Madilynn Wallace, Gary Harper and Kenneth Harper and a brother, Kevin (Ruth) Parish of Evansville, IN. Survived by also several nephews and nieces.

Dana was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Wegehoft, and her parents, Junior and Diana M. Parish.

Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday January 24, 2026 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tim Baxter officiating. She will be laid to rest with her parents in the Oaktown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 (Noon) PM at the funeral home. Obit for David Neal Abel
David Neal Abel, 68, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on Thursday January 15, 2026. David was born on March 16, 1957 in Vincennes the proud son of Charles and Vada Abel, devoted husband to Heidi Sutton, a loving father to Charles, Skyler, and Robin, and adoring grandfather to Gunnar, Geralt, Maddyx, Alexis, Emberly, and Octavia.
Dave was hard working and dedicated. Spending 45 years working at the Vincennes Water Department, last known as the Manager of Drinking Water. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and passions. He graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School, class of 1975. Though Dave was humble and did not like being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of humor, witty comebacks, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Dave’s hobbies and interests define who he was. He enjoyed manning the grill, having a campfire for hours, NASCAR, and bowling. He often spent his weekends spoiling his grandchildren or watching his favorite TV shows. Ghost Adventures, American Pickers, Storage Wars, Moonshiners, and MASH to name a few. He was also a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
On July 5, 1990, Dave was given a second chance at life due to a heart transplant. Dave did not like to brag but he was the longest living person after a heart transplant. Last year he celebrated his 35th heart transplant anniversary.

Dave is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings, Donald (Esther) Abel and Linda (Chris) Holscher.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gary Abel, and sisters, Lisa Alton and Lori Buzan.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday January 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. Dennis Latta officiating. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Patsy Lynn (Smith) Russell, 66, of Decker, IN passed away at her home with her family at her bedside. Patsy was born June 20, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of Andrew and Patricia Peach Smith. She was a graduate of South Knox High School and worked in the food service industry at various restaurants in the area. She married Larry Russell on November 8, 1986 and they made their life together for 39 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed poking the bear at any family gathering.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Larry Russell, their daughters, Crystal (Ron) Miller of Aliquippa, PA and Jessica (Justin) Hasting of Vincennes, IN. She was blessed by her grandchildren, Lexy Leal, Logan Russell, Marissa Miller, Lauren Miller, Emma Miller and Ella Hasting, her great granddaughter, Addy Barbosa and was anticipating the birth of 2 more great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Nita (David) Tewell of Vincennes, Pam (Terry Evans) Westfall of Decker, IN, Lucy Reed of Oaktown, IN, Ronnie (Gina) Smith of Ft. Branch, IN, Jimmy Smith of Oakland City, IN and Tim Smith of Decker, IN.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Russell, her parents, 2 brothers, Butch Smith and Chuck Smith.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM with a service to be held at 4:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until the time of services. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Good Samaritan Hospital Cancer Center. Dorothy Eileen McCune, 98, of Vincennes, passed away December 25, 2025 at Gentle Care Nursing Center at 1:20 PM. Dorothy was born December 3, 1927 in Knox County the daughter of Benjamin Cleatus and Pearl Opal Thompson Beamon. She was a high school graduate and worked for over 32 years at Osage Woodworking. She was a former member of the Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Larry (Patricia) Twitty of Vincennes, 4 grandchildren, a sister, June Carr of Fairfield, IL, and a nephew, who took care of her, Dale (Sherry) Beamon of Monroe City, IN.
Dorothy was preceded in death by 2 son’s, Luke Twitty and Lee Twitty, 2 grandchildren, her parents, 4 brothers, Frank, Harry, Paul and Dale Beamon and 3 sisters, Irma, Betty and Donna.

Luke Twitty, 69, formerly of Vincennes, passed away July 19, 2018. Luke was born February 27, 1949 the son of Luther Lloyd Twitty and Dorothy Eileen Beamon McCune. He worked as a laborer in construction.
He was survived at that time by his son Steve Twitty of Ragsdale, IN, his mother, Dorothy E. McCune of Vincennes, and a brother Larry Twitty.
He was preceded in death by his father, 2 sons, Danny Twitty and Jimmy Twitty and a brother, Lee Twitty.
At his request he was cremated and will be intered with his mother in Memorial Park Cemetery. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funerl Home is honored to be entrusted with his arrangements.

Obit for Mary Alice (Adams) Gerhart
Mary Alice (Adams) Gerhart passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord
and Savior on January 1, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on
September 19, 1929, in Vincennes, to J. Clarence and Mary Annalee
(Cantwell) Adams. Mary Alice graduated from Monroe City High School in 1947, then entered Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1950. She started her extensive nursing career at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1950-51, leaving to work for Dr. Virgil McMahan through 1965, then back to the ICU unit at GSH until Dr. McMahan’s return to orthopedic practice in 1968. Mary Alice retired from her long nursing career on September 30, 1992, after also working at Vincennes Surgery Clinic for several years. Mary Alice was a lifelong member of Indiana Presbyterian Church, having faithfully served in many capacities. She recounted from her earliest days of cleaning the church with her family and stoking the furnace on Saturday nights in preparation for Sunday morning. She was a children’s Sunday School teacher for many years as well as an elder, treasurer, and board secretary.

Mary Alice was the “fun” aunt. Having no children of her own, she was involved in all her nieces‘, and nephews’ lives from the time they were born until she was no longer able to recognize and remember them. There was always a party to plan, a state park to explore with a picnic to be enjoyed, or a movie to take in.

On November 2, 1993, Mary Alice married the love of her life, Max W.
Gerhart, and she moved to the Illinois side of the Wabash where they
lived until Max’s passing on February 12, 1998. She and Max traveled extensively in the few years they shared together and when not traveling, Mary Alice hosted many dinner parties for family and friends.

Mary Alice expressed a real love for entertaining and feeding the masses. A year and a half after Max’s passing, she moved back to
her Vincennes family home.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Max, as well as her parents
and siblings John, James, Jerry, and Ann Coonce. She was also preceded
in death by her first born niece.

Mary Alice is survived by her step-daughter, Caryn Gerhart, of Vincennes, as well as eight nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews, 44 great-great nieces and nephews and 4 great, great, great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff of the Lodge of the Wabash for their care and kindness to Mary Alice over the last several years and to the staff of Aseracare who have cared for her needs the past several months.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 P. M. Sunday, January 11, with a memorial service following at 3:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Indiana Presbyterian Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Indiana Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund or to the VU Foundation for Mary Alice Gerhart Nursing Scholarship.

Billie Pearl Booher, 93, formerly of Carlisle, IN, passed away Tuesday December 30, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Oakland City, IN. Billie was born April 15, 1932 in Vincennes the daughter of Sylvester O’Brien and Virginia Combs Ikerd. She was a graduate of Arsenel Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN and she married Dennis Booher who preceded her in death on January 7, 2015. She and her husband owned and operated Booher Trucking where she was the office manager. She had formerly worked at Trio Pet Shop and Forbes nursery. She lived her Christianity in her everyday life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Billie is survived by her children, Mary Halter (Terry) Todd of Oakland City, IN, Dennis Eric Booher of Carlisle, IN and David Glen Booher of Carlisle, IN., her grandchildren, Tesha (Mitchell) Doerner, Jennifer (Trevor) Johnson, John Booher and Katie (Bruce) Laslie. 6 Great Grandchildren also survive

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Booher, a daughter, Rebecca Halter Page and a son Jeffery M. Halter.

Tommy R. Westfall, 63, of Bicknell, passed away December 29, 2025 at his home. Tommy was born January 11, 1962 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Lawrence “Tom” and Nancy Davisson Westfall. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and being with his family at any gathering.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Westfall, his brothers and sisters, Mickey Westfall, of Freelandville, IN, Netta Jeffris and Cheryl (Ben) Barnett, both of Bicknell, IN. His nieces and nephews, Aaron Westfall, Mary Westfall and her partner Ted Holmes, Laura Jimenez and her husband Juan, his great nieces and nephews, Zachary, Macklin, Jake-Marie and Logan Westfall, Bryton Shaner, Ryker Holmes, Trista Kershner, Erik Kershner, Jayce (Mackenzie) Jimenez and Hope Cutsinger, He is also survived by his great great neice’s Adeline Jimenez and Kali Robertson

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Robert Westfall.

Obit for Mary Jeanette Yochum
Mary Jeanette Yochum, 91, of Vincennes, passed away at BridgePointe Nursing Home in Vincennes. She was born April 10, 1934, in Vincennes, the daughter of Oscar and Corine (Geschke) Westfall. A 1952 graduate of St. Rose Academy and a 1985 graduate of Vincennes University. Mary was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church. On May 25, 1957, she married Paul E Yochum, and together they shared 46 years of marriage until his death in 2003. She was also affiliated with St. Francis Xavier Parish. Mary worked at Vincennes Steel for 5 years before starting her family and worked 20 years at Good Samaritan Hospital until retiring in 2008. She was active in church ministries, especially the Ladies Altar Society, and she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her children, Douglas (Candus) Yochum of Vincennes, Patrick (Marie) Yochum of Grovetown, Ga, Steven (Gail) Yochum of Johnsburg, IL, Rebecca (Paul) Douglass of Fort Washington, MD, Joanne (David) Holscher of Fort Wayne, IN, and Jennifer (John) Curry of Vincennes, 12 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Oscar Westfall Jr. of Bridgewater, VA, a brother-in-law, Raymond (Shirley) Yochum, of Vincennes and a sister-in-law, Carol Yochum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, Oscar and Corine Westfall, six brothers in-law, George (Rita) Yochum, Aloysius (Helen) Yochum, Lawrence (Barbara) Yochum, James (Norma) Yochum, Robert (Betty) Yochum, John Yochum, sisters in-law, Veronica (Lawrence) West and Helen (Ralph) Bouvy
