Day 361: Not much has happened the last few days. Carson attended one day of school and then a snow storm hit and he’s been on NTI since. He is not looking forward to school to starting back, because “Kindergarten is too hard.” In the meantime he’s been working hard on his homework, so he can play hard.

Day 355: I meant to post yesterday, but Carson finally had his first day of kindergarten. It didn’t go quite as planned. He thought it was going to be like preschool, so he strughled today, but he will get it together soon enough. He also went for blood counts today and everything is great.

Day 353: We had a snow day from school, even though we didn’t have any snow, so we had a playdate before the snowstorm comes in and traps us in the house!

Day 348: I wanted answers so bad, but never thought I’d hear those words, “it’s cancer.” This popped up on my memories from a year ago, today.

Day 340: We are officially in maintenance, but that doesn’t mean we are near the end. The picture is of the medications he’s going to be on for the next 13 months. The price shows just two of his many medications; Thank goodness for insurance.
Carson had a lit of anxiety over getting accessed. All the time and pokes in the hospital brought on the fear again. 😭

Day 337: I was very impressed with Sedation this morning as they were actually early. Everything went great and they switched the NJ tube to the right side to give his left nostril a break, which I was glad for this because the port is now on the right side and it’s so much easier for me to have both things on the same side.
He was finally released from the hospital and is spending the night at the Ronald McDonald house or as he calls it, the castle.
He gets a couple days of a break and then goes back to the clinic on Friday, to officially start maintenance!!

We are still waiting for him to come out of sedation, but before he went back we had fun taking pictures. He loves his face without the tube. I talked to him about keeping it out, but he will be starting maintenance soon. Maintenance consists of 8-10 medications, daily. Carson is just not ready for that, so we will stick with “tubie” for a little while longer.

Day 336: Carson had surgery this morning. First time everything was completed in a timely manner! He had a new port placed on the right side, ears cleaned, tubes placed, spinal fluid extracted and chemotherapy infused into his spine. He had to have a breathing tube placed to help breathe for him during surgery. While removing the breathing tube, his NJ tube came out with it. Radiology was not available to immediately replace it, so now he has to go back under sedation tomorrow. As aggravating as it is for another sedation, I am just thankful everything went smoothly, with 3 different doctors, performing 3 completely different procedures. NJ tube replacement is scheduled for tomorrow at 8am. I hope the process goes as smoothly as it did today.
Picture with hat is from yesterday; He was so excited to wear his new Bulls hat. The bathtub picture was him proclaiming to be “The King” last night.
Carson is still pretty sleepy right now. He was not feeling pictures at all.
