Day 324: Last night Carson was admitted to the hospital. He spiked a fever of 102.1 and became weak and tired. Carson’s blood counts dropped significantly from yesterday morning and he needed a blood transfusion last night. He then tested positive for RSV and rhinovirus.
**Night shift nurses helped come with an idea for Elfie’s last night here.**

Day 322:
One year ago today Carson’s symptoms started. No one wanted to believe me that something was wrong. They thought I was crazy and that Carson was faking. I knew something was wrong and I was determined to figure out what it was. I fought like crazy for 43 days to figure out what was wrong with my son. 43 days of people calling me a liar and accusing me of wanting something to be wrong with him. For 43 days I watched my son endure pain and broken bones and no one was helping to do anything about it.

Day 318: Today was Carson’s last day of chemotherapy for 2025!!! 🙌
However, his hemoglobin was on the borderline, so we do have to return next week for blood counts and a possible transfusion.
This was the last treatment for this cycle of chemotherapy. He is finished with frontline. His next appointment will be day one of maintenance. Maintenance will be a daily oral chemo, but it’s not an intense dose. Carson will be able to start living life almost “normal”, even though he is not even halfway finished with chemotherapy. His expected end of treatment date isn’t until March 2027. We still have a long road ahead of us, but the hardest part is over as long as treatment continues to work. Praying that the bad “R” word doesn’t come up, ever for him.
Today he was promised a sponge bob meal for being so good. I went to Burger King and realized I left my wallet at home and I couldn’t order the meal on the app. A nice man from Hardin County (where we are from) offered to buy him the meal and gave him money for a toy. So sweet of him to make sure my boy still received his meal! Nice to have good people in this world.

Day 317: Today marks one year from Carson’s gotcha day. I brought Carson home from the hospital at two days old and I’ve had him ever since, but today marks one year since he was officially adopted.

Day 309: Carson did amazing today!!! He did so good I promised him a Grinch Meal. Well I learned my lesson with that. Check to make sure something isn’t out of stock EVERYWHERE before you make a promise. 🤦🏼‍♀️
We had to go to Indiana, but he got it.
We are halfway thru delayed intensification 2. One step closer to maintenance.

Day 307: Carson was able to have his special weekend. He didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I had hoped between being so tired, weak and having to be 90% tube fed, but we made it through the weekend. He still got to enjoy everything, just not as long as usual.
** At Santa’s Candy Castle the lady behind the counter gave him a book. She was the author of it. It was about children with special needs and it mentioned nasal feeding tubes. He had Camden read the book to him over and over to him.
