Please share your experience with us.: My daughter was diagnosed with alpha gal at four years old. She went into anaphylactic shock after receiving the MMR and varicella vaccine. at that time, we had no idea that she had alpha gal. It was only after the vaccines that we figured it out. Due to her being injected with gelatin (that is what the vaccines were housed in), it made her reaction to animal products so extreme. My daughter was not only allergic to beef, pork, gelatin, but she was also anaphylactic to dairy and all animal byproducts. She essentially was a vegan at four years old. However, she could have poultry it was so tough for her to not be able to have ice cream, milk, pizza, candy, etc. It was a tough diet for such a young kid. We were referred to Dr LEWIS that he specialized in SAAT therapy to reduce the effects of the alpha gal allergy. In January 2022 my daughter failed skin tests to all of her allergens, and her blood levels were extremely high. In February to April we underwent the SAT therapy with Dr LEWIS. In May she passed all of her skin tests, and all of her blood levels were extremely reduced. We decided to undergo a food challenge at Dupont hospital. And she passed! My daughter is now able to not only have dairy, but she can also have gelatin. We are going to do a beef and pork challenge soon. Dr LEWIS forever changed my daughters life. It is amazing how different our lives now are because of him. We can go to restaurants again, she can go to friends houses, and have sleepovers, without worry, and she can enjoy every day foods that were totally off-limits. We will forever be so grateful for Dr LEWIS, and, the huge impact he made in our lives through the SAAT therapy.
