Women’s Rights just took a back seat today. This country underfunds research in Women’s Health, underpays Women’s Healthcare providers, and under-supports causes for advancement in Women’s Health. Now it under-protects Women and bans them from using their own brains to make decisions about their lives.

During this Mental Health Awareness Month I thought it would be helpful to consider the connection between our MENTAL and SEXUAL health. Scroll for the facts ➡️➡️➡️ YES it's all connected! This article by Here to Help describes the relationship well.

We often think of s*x as something our bodies are DOING, but a lot of our s*x life takes place in our brains. It’s important to realize that, for all genders, our thoughts and feelings play a vital role in getting us turned on and keeping us that way.

The struggle with mental illness in a variety of forms can hurt a person’s self-esteem and make them feel unworthy of s*xual attention. For example, a person may have an unrealistic view of their own body and may actively seek to deny or discipline the body as a way of coping. In these cases, it’s important to be critical of the beauty norms we are shown by the media, step away from the practice of measuring or defining ourselves, and to seek to rediscover our love and appreciation for our bodies and our s*xual selves.

S*x is not the experience depicted in movies, whether from Hollywood or the p**n industry. S*x is far more complex.

Real s*x includes creativity and laughter, but also confusion, mistakes, clumsiness, misunderstandings and varying intensity of desire. These are all healthy parts of s*xuality, and by creating space for all of these in our relationships, we make it harder for anxiety and negative thoughts to undermine our s*xual well-being.

One of the best things you can do for yourself and your relationship when struggling with mental well-being and its impact on your s*x life is to get educated about s*xuality. This can be done through good resources or by going to see a “s*x positive” counsellor or psychologist for help with these issues.

S*x positivity is the assertion that s*xuality is fundamentally a good thing in life and not something naughty, shameful or only healthy in certain types of relationships. S*x positivity asserts that expression of our desire, our gender identity and s*xual orientation is a basic part of a healthy lifestyle.

3 words you'll never hear at EvoScient: "Deal with it." Literally not in our vocabulary.

"Over a year ago I got diagnosed with a female autoimmune condition that has no cure, but that can be maintained with correct care. 6 months ago another doctor in the area told me to find emotional support because there was nothing to be done physically for me and that I needed to just be ok with the pain I was in. The first visit with Dr Ojo-Carons was the exact opposite of that prior experience! She did a gentle exam and came up with a course of action. We are less than a month from my first visit and I have some relief! The consistent pain is no more! I have only begun the treatment plan, but I know I am in good hands since I am already feeling better!! The office staff is first class and go above and beyond! There has not been a single interaction in which I do not feel well cared for! Being that we don’t run around talking about our feminine issues, it is hard to let everyone know about this amazing office, so Google do your thing and get the word out! Thank you!!"
– Beth S.

Your relief is our GREATEST goal. We take seriously the comprehensive, gentle care of each patient.

If you or someone you know is experiencing pelvic pain, discomfort or s*xual difficulties of any kind, please contact us. We want to help. It's why we exist.

No, it's not normal. No, you don't have to "deal with it." Even if you've "always had it." That pain you feel regularly in your pelvis is TREATABLE, and it's time we take care of this, sister!!

While chronic pelvic pain is defined as nonmenstrual pain in the pelvis that lasts up to six months or more, the condition often goes hand-in-hand with endometriosis, which can cause pain before, during and after periods.

Adding to that misery, the daily experience of chronic pelvic pain can be so debilitating that it can deeply interfere with daily life including relationships, the ability to compete in the workplace, and sleeping patterns.

For women diagnosed with endometriosis, who also experience chronic pelvic pain, the duo of conditions can be particularly disruptive to their s*x lives.

Still, the source of pelvic pain in women also continues to be difficult to diagnose because of the shame and stigma surrounding reproductive diseases.

The best plan of action women with pelvic pain can take, especially during Pelvic Pain Awareness Month, is to mention it to their healthcare provider at your next exam. Silence is the worst treatment.

To all the amazing, hardworking, caring, supportive, smart, intuitive, SELFLESS nurses past, present, and future in my life- HAPPY NURSE’S WEEK!!! From Med school to now, there is no way I could do my job without y’all! My heart is full because as I type this, I’m remembering all the wonderful nurses that have personally impacted my life. The nurses that cheered me on when I was low. The nurses that snuck me orange juice when I was pregnant but too busy working and couldn’t eat, the nurses that gave me a shoulder to cry when the medicine got tough, the nurses that would say “f that review, your amazing at what you do”, the nurses that would watch my daughter in the lounge while I was doing a quick delivery (🤫shhh).
Through this time of COVID and the challenges our entire world felt, we on the front line bore a lot of the brunt. You nurses walked in and out of rooms to care for those that needed it then went home to your families to give them care. You put yourself last, even when it put your life at risk. Being called a hero didn’t make you work harder; the challenge and need is what made you come back day after day. You served when it was tough, not glamorous, and even when it wasn’t appreciated. Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do.
I can’t tag you all, but you know I love you!

My mom is strong, wise, educated, dignified and caring. Not many women have the privilege of working alongside their own mother, but I do and I am grateful.

I believe in the power of , and she has always been a strong example of this important force. I wouldn’t be where I am without her guidance and support.

So, to the resident Nurse Practitioner at EvoScient—my mother—Dr. Mary Ukpabi-Egbuniwe, happy Mother’s Day. ♥️🫶🏽♥️🫶🏽♥️🫶🏽
