Join the movement to support perinatal mental health by contributing to Postpartum Support Virginia, a trusted resource and cherished partner for families and healthcare providers seeking education, support, and resources on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. Please consider donating to an amazing cause!

We are so grateful for the support we received from our community around Giving Day. Thank you!

While we did not meet our goal, we are hopeful that these last posts of the year will reach the right people. Although we continue to work toward closing the $200,000 gap in our funding, in order to meet the most critical needs we have prior to December 31st, we need to raise $10,000. We need your help now more than ever.

Help us support our staff and those we serve with your end-of-year gift.

When a birthing person reaches out to our warmline with a call or text, they are connected to someone who is ready to listen and help navigate next steps. That typically includes care coordination, which supports the individual by connecting them directly to pre-vetted maternal mental health service providers.

It costs approximately $300 for each person we support through the process. Insurance doesn't pay for that. Neither does funding from state or federal sources. We rely on our generous grantors and grassroots donations from within our community to fund this and other critical services.

Want to help? Join us on as we work together and close a funding gap that will allow us to continue to provide this kind of support when it is needed most.

Ahead of GivingTuesday please consider donating to our friends Postpartum Support Virginia
😔In early 2025, one-third of U.S. larger nonprofits experienced disruptions to their government funding. 😔 Although 💫 PSVa ❤️ receives no state or federal funding, the disruption had a ripple effect on the broader funding environment, including for smaller nonprofits like ours. This has led to increased financial vulnerability, with 36% 😞 of nonprofits operating with deficits and more than half having less than three months of cash on hand, according to a 2025 Nonprofit Finance Fund survey. 🤦🏻‍♀️

As we near the end of the year, we are working diligently to bridge a significant funding gap. ❤️❤️If you can help financially, use the link below: https://postpartumva.kindful.com/?campaign=1148975

If funds are tight for you, too, we can use other kinds of support. 😍 We are doing a big push for Giving Tuesday!! ✨ If you could go to our https://www.instagram.com/postpartumsupportvirginia and amplify our posts by commenting and sharing, that would also help. ✨If you want to invest your time, you can do that, too! Email info@postpartumva.org to get more information.🎁

Postpartum Intrusive Thoughts
Warning: Mentions of postpartum intrusive thoughts (no graphic detail).
Stitching  . Thank you for being so open about your experience. If you choose to watch the original, please do so with care as Alex’s description is fabulous but may be triggering to those who are vulnerable. 💛
Here’s what I want every postpartum parent to know:
➡️ Intrusive thoughts are extremely common: about 80% of postpartum moms have them.
➡️ Having these thoughts does not mean you’re dangerous, broken, or a bad parent.
➡️ Reproductive-trained clinicians (like the providers at Brookside Psychiatric Specialists) hear these thoughts every day and know how to manage them.
➡️ You deserve support if they feel sticky, scary, or like they’re driving avoidance or rituals.
When to seek help:
 • They feel hard to shake
 • They feel “true” or you worry you might act on them
 • You’re avoiding normal activities
 • You are concerned
Intrusive thoughts are common, sometimes normal, and treatable when they become more intense. You’re not alone, and help is available.
If you need immediate support, call or text 988 (Su***de & Crisis Lifeline).
