Today's is another American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) approved shoe from Dr. Comfort; the Jason Men's Athletic Shoe, available on the Dr. Comfort website!

This shoe allows comfort and flexibility for any activity with proper air circulation, removable inserts, and easy on and off capability. With increase activity comes increased foot protection with extra medial and lateral support and a protective toe box.

This shoe can also be Medicare reimbursed using the HCPCS code: A5500

Dr. Comfort's line of diabetic shoes is American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) approved as they provide significant protection and comfort while continuing to prioritize fashion. The Grace Women's Walking Shoe is recommended for women who may deal with poor circulation, diabetic or non-diabetic conditions, foot ulcers, peripheral neuropathy with evidence of callus formation, or foot deformity.

💊Medication Monday- where we highlight different medications that can increase your fall risk based on their side effects!💊

Today we are highlighting Furosemide (a.k.a Lasix), a commonly used loop diuretic to treat high blood pressure and/or edema and swelling caused by certain medical conditions (congestive heart failure, kidney failure, etc.).

Some of the common side effects include lightheadedness, muscle weakness, dizziness, and blurred vision. It is important to avoid any sudden position changes or movements and stay seated until you feel stable enough to start walking again. Be sure to stay up to date on optometry visits as well if you already have any vision impairments!

Allow us to re-introduce our treasured Timeless Living® Fall Prevention Program!

Timeless Living® Fall Prevention is our 7-week fall prevention program run by licensed physical therapists & physical therapist assistants that includes education, exercise, and personalized follow up to ensure confidence and safety at home and in the community.

Our program has been proven to improve many lives in our Hampton Roads community and we hope to continue this change and expand it even further!

💊Medication Monday- where we highlight different medications that can increase your fall risk based on their side effects!💊

Today we are highlighting Atorvastatin, a commonly used medication to treat high blood pressure.

Some of the common side effects include muscle weakness, headache, and insomnia. While muscle weakness seems like an obvious cause of an increased fall risk, insomnia is just as important to understand. Lack of sleep can cause slower reaction times and a decrease in energy and balance. Make sure to get adequate rest whenever possible!

💊The first Medication Monday of 2026!- where we highlight different medications that can increase your fall risk based on their side effects!💊

Today we are highlighting Albuterol, a commonly used bronchodilator to treat asthma and other respiratory problems.

Some of the common side effects include shakiness/trembling, headache, and muscle pain/cramps. Those symptoms can certainly increase your fall risk, so it's important to be aware! Take a seat and some slow breaths through your nose & out your mouth if you start to feel shaky or anxious.
