Healing Arts Center is a place where awareness and growth begin with a practitioner who is truly present and listening deeply to the experience of each person who walks through the door.

We work with individuals who are navigating a variety of life challenges, from anxiety and burnout to feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply ready for something to shift. Clients experience a warm, nonjudgmental environment where our approach is tailored to the individual rather than applied as a one-size-fits-all method. Our practitioners draw on somatic coaching, mindfulness practices, creative art, creative movement, and creative writing to create an experience uniquely suited to each person we work with.

Our goal is straightforward. We want you to leave every session with a deeper understanding of yourself and practical tools you can use in your daily life. Over time, that translates into healthier decisions, more honest relationships, and a growing capacity to meet whatever comes your way with clarity and self-compassion.

Each practitioner at Healing Arts Center operates as an independent business owner, vetted for quality care, and united by a shared commitment to ethical and compassionate practice.

Healing Arts Center is located in Virginia Beach, and we also work with clients virtually across Virginia. If you are ready to take the next step, visit HealingArtsVB.com to learn more or book a session today.

Most people try to push through anxiety or wait for it to pass.

This journaling exercise asks you to do something different. It is a somatic practice that invites you to bring the “Executive Brain” back online to support the “Emotional Brain.”

When you sit with the physical sensation, name it, and let it speak, you are sending a powerful “safety signal” to your entire nervous system.

➡️ Swipe for the full exercise.

Try it and see what comes up when you actually stop and listen to yourself.

If you have been living in survival mode, navigating chronic stress, or carrying the weight of past trauma, your world can start to feel like it is stuck in grayscale. When the nervous system is locked in a state of protection, joy does not just feel far away; it feels absent. It can actually feel physically unsafe.

The somatic truth: Laughter is medicinal.

It is not about thinking positively or pretending everything is fine. It is about your body finally receiving the signal that it is safe enough to unclench, exhale, and enjoy a moment of connection.

When you allow yourself to laugh, you are doing more than having fun:

You are signaling deep safety to your brain and body.

You are reducing the physical tension left by trauma.

You are giving your nervous system a much-needed break from constant vigilance.

At the Healing Arts Center, we believe healing should be as deep as it is light. We provide the tools to help you find your way back to a body that feels safe enough to sparkle again.

🌱 Ready to reconnect? Book an appointment to start your path toward a more regulated, joyful life.

The idea of treating yourself with kindness can feel foreign, especially if your default is self-criticism or “tough love.” But that inner barrage only deepens wounds and stalls real growth.

True resilience begins with compassionate self-awareness—getting to know your inner life and responding with genuine care. It’s a skill you can build to feel truly seen and supported.

The 5-Step Roadmap:

NOTICING: Pause and turn inward. What is the heavy tension or physical sensation arising right now?

RECOGNIZING: Label the thoughts running through your mind as automatic reflexes, not absolute truths.

RELATING: Shift from “fixing” to “relating.” Ask why you feel this way, given what you’ve been through.

NURTURING: Offer yourself the same caring concern you would for a dear friend. Soothe your own pain.

HEALING: By applying compassion to your struggle, you create a safe environment where growth is inevitable.

Ready to practice? Start today by simply noticing your breath. 🧘‍♀️

Victoria of Healing Arts Center and Erin Freeman, LPC, of But First Heal Thyself approach Reiki through a trauma-informed lens. This means every session prioritizes trust, safety, and open communication for every client, not just those who have disclosed trauma. It is their universal standard of care.

There is a big difference between holding a high standard for your life and holding onto an unrealistic expectation. It’s worth knowing which one you’re actually gripping.

The Shift: ✨ High standards say: “I will give my best effort today.” 🚫 Unrealistic expectations say: “I must succeed at everything I try.”

✨ High standards say: “I will show up consistently.” 🚫 Unrealistic expectations say: “I cannot have an off day.”

See the difference? Having high standards doesn’t mean you have to be perfect. In fact, perfectionism is the most unrealistic expectation of all.

You can want incredible things for your work, your relationships, and your well-being while still being honest about where you are right now. Your Practice This Week: Check the journal prompt in the image. 📖 Look at the rules you’ve set for yourself and ask: Was this ever actually realistic to begin with?

Hold yourself accountable, but show yourself grace, too. 🕊️

Save this for when you need a reminder to breathe. 📌
