Washington State’s SB 5395, which is currently being reviewed by the House, strengthens prior authorization reforms — helping ensure patients get timely access to the cancer treatments they need without unnecessary delays.

For oncology patients, prior authorization can mean the difference between starting treatment immediately or waiting weeks while paperwork is reviewed. By improving transparency and streamlining the approval process, SB 5395 is a meaningful step toward reducing barriers to care.

Why this matters for cancer care:
For cancer patients, access to timely, affordable medications—especially specialty and oncology drugs—is critical. Policies like SB 140 help push back against restrictive PBM practices that can limit access to life-saving treatment based on geography or network design.

We continue to advocate for equal access to cancer care across state lines, ensuring patients are never forced to delay or forgo treatment because of where they live or how a network is structured.

Big news in Mississippi breast health:
Under SB 2858 / MS Code § 83-9-403 and HB 1143 (2024), diagnostic & supplemental breast imaging must be covered without cost-sharing, and metastatic cancer patients are protected from “fail-first” insurance mandates.

💊Arkansas HB 1150 just passed. Starting in 2026, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) can no longer own or run pharmacies in the state.

✔️ This levels the playing field and protects independent & local pharmacies.

For patients fighting cancer, fair + reliable pharmacy access isn’t optional—it’s essential.
