When people ask what a doula does, they usually think I’m there to “deliver the baby.”

I’m not.

I’m there to support you.

A doula provides continuous emotional and physical support during labor. That means:

• Helping you stay grounded when things feel intense
• Offering comfort measures like position changes, counterpressure, breathing guidance
• Protecting the tone and energy of your space
• Supporting your partner so they feel confident and involved
• Helping you understand your options so you can make informed decisions

I don’t replace your provider.
I don’t make medical decisions.
I don’t take over.

I stay. I support. I advocate. I witness.

Birth is physical, but it’s also deeply emotional.
Having steady, uninterrupted support can make a profound difference in how you experience it.

You deserve to feel safe, heard, and supported in your birth space 🤍

Postpartum isn’t just diapers and newborn snuggles.

It can also feel heavy. Quiet. Overwhelming in ways that are hard to explain.

After birth, your body is healing. Your hormones shift rapidly. Sleep is disrupted. Your identity is expanding. Your nervous system is adjusting to constant responsibility.

That “weight” some parents feel?
It can be:
• Emotional overwhelm
• Anxiety you didn’t expect
• Feeling overstimulated
• Grief for your old routine
• Pressure to “do it right”

None of that makes you ungrateful.
None of it means you’re failing.

It means you’re human, and postpartum is a major transition.

If this resonates, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to carry it quietly.

Reach out. Talk about it. Support exists 🤍

After birth, so much focus shifts to the baby, but your recovery is just as important.

Postpartum healing isn’t instant, and it isn’t only physical. Your body is recovering from pregnancy and birth, your hormones are shifting, and you’re adjusting emotionally and mentally to a huge life change.

Follow-up care and ongoing support matter because they create space to talk about:
• Physical healing
• Bleeding or pain
• Feeding challenges
• Mood changes
• Questions about what’s normal

You don’t have to brush things off or wait until your six-week visit to speak up. You deserve care, reassurance, and support throughout your postpartum recovery.

Your health matters. Your healing matters. You matter 🤍

Save this as a reminder to check in with yourself, too.

Early postpartum recovery is made up of small, gentle choices — not big, dramatic ones.

Healing can be supported by:
• Drinking enough fluids
• Eating nourishing meals and snacks
• Resting whenever you can
• Keeping your body warm and comfortable
• Accepting help from others

These little things don’t seem like much, but they add up. Your body is healing, your hormones are shifting, and your energy is being poured into your baby.

You don’t have to do everything perfectly. Small care still counts 🤍

Postpartum is often shown as glowing, peaceful, and full of quiet bonding moments.

And sometimes it is.
But it can also be exhausting, emotional, and completely different than what you pictured.

You can love your baby deeply and still feel overwhelmed.
You can feel grateful and still miss your old.
You can feel joy and uncertainty in the same day.

None of that means you’re doing it wrong. It means you’re in a major life transition while healing physically and adjusting emotionally.

Postpartum isn’t a performance. It’s a recovery and an adjustment.

Be gentle with yourself, you are doing enough 🤍

Postpartum recovery doesn’t just happen at your six-week checkup.

It’s happening every day, often while you’re caring for a newborn on very little sleep.

Your body is still healing from:
• Uterine changes
• Hormone shifts
• Blood loss
• Muscle and tissue recovery

Even if you feel pressure to “get back to normal,” rest is not a luxury. It’s part of the healing process.

Rest supports:
• Physical recovery
• Emotional regulation
• Milk supply and feeding
• Energy levels and mental health

You don’t have to earn rest by being completely exhausted first.

You deserve recovery time simply because your body went through birth.

Be gentle with yourself. Healing deserves space ✨

Birth plans are helpful, buuuuuuut they aren’t binding contracts.

You’re allowed to change your mind.
You’re allowed to need something different.
You’re allowed to respond to your body in real time.

Changing your mind doesn’t mean you failed.
It means you’re listening.

Support during birth isn’t about pushing an outcome, it’s about walking with you through each decision.

Breastfeeding is often described as “natural,” but natural doesn’t always mean easy.

Some parents and babies find their rhythm quickly. Others need time, guidance, and support — especially in the early postpartum days when everyone is tired and healing.

If feeding feels harder than you expected, you are not alone and you are not failing. Learning to feed your baby is a relationship, not a test.

Support can look like:
• Lactation guidance
• Positioning help
• Reassurance during long nights
• Encouragement when things feel overwhelming

However your feeding journey looks, you deserve care and compassion, too 🤍

Postpartum is more than a “bounce back” season.
It’s a healing, stretching, identity-shifting season.

Your body is recovering.
Your hormones are shifting.

Your heart is learning someone new, while still holding onto who you were before.
If things feel slower, heavier, or more emotional than you expected, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re in it.

You deserve rest.
You deserve help.
You deserve space to heal, physically and emotionally.

There is no gold medal for doing postpartum alone. Support is part of recovery, not a sign you’re failing.

Be gentle with yourself. You are still becoming 🤍

There’s a lot of pressure to frame birth as either “beautiful” or “traumatic.”

But many birth experiences live somewhere in between.

You don’t have to love every moment for your birth to be meaningful.
You don’t have to feel only gratitude.
You don’t have to minimize the hard parts.

Your experience is allowed to be complex.
Support during birth isn’t about creating a perfect story, it’s about helping you feel held through the reality of it.

Every emotion is valid.
Every birth story matters 🤍

So many parents feel pressure to “know exactly what to expect” before birth.

But the truth is — birth doesn’t come with certainty.
Every labor unfolds differently, especially in a hospital setting where things can change quickly.

Not knowing what’s coming doesn’t mean you’re unprepared.

It means you’re human.

Preparation isn’t about predicting every outcome.
It’s about having support, information, and reassurance when things feel unfamiliar.

Support helps bridge the gap between what you planned and what’s happening in real time — so you don’t feel lost, overwhelmed, or alone.
You don’t need all the answers before labor begins.

You deserve support through the experience.
