💙 Honoring Our Everyday Hero, MaryAnn Conrad 💙

Our team had a blast filming with Kurt Williams and WTKR News 3 to spotlight someone who means so much to us, our beloved MaryAnn Conrad.

MaryAnn has been volunteering at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital since it opened in 2011 and has volunteered with Sentara for a total of 23 years.

At 93 years young, she continues to brighten our halls, serve in our gift shop, and lead a team that handmakes the cutest knitted hats for our newborns. 🎀🧶

Her kindness, energy, and joy inspire everyone she meets. We’re so proud to see her recognized as an Everyday Hero, a title she wears so well. 💛

Thank you, MaryAnn, for making millions of little moments that matter.

We're thrilled to recognize Catherine Paler, MSN RN PPCN who was recognized with a DAISY Award for her incredible dedication to patients and providing exceptional care. 🌼💛

Catherine works in our Oncology department, where her skills, attention to detail, and compassion make all the difference for patients, day in and day out.

"Cat is a phenomenal nurse. Each time I have the pleasure of her taking care of me, I have no complaints. She always has a way of anticipating my needs."

✨ A small idea turned into something that brings comfort to so many.

While staying at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, Thad Rhodes found an empty spot on the unit late one night and imagined turning it into a library. With support from Nurse Manager, Katia Guerrier and Director of Mission, Stacie Morgan, that spark of inspiration grew into a warm, inviting area where patients and families can relax and feel a little more at home. 📚💛

More than 100 books have been donated so far, and Thad dedicated the library to his wife, who passed away last year from early onset dementia.

We’re also excited that WTKR’s Beverly Kidd recognized Thad as an Everyday Hero. His story will be shared in March! 🎥⭐

We’re honored to help bring this meaningful project to life for everyone who walks through our doors.

Did you know we have volunteers who knit hats for the newborns in our nursery and neonatal intensive care unit? 🧶👶🍼🎓

Six knitted hats take about 30 hours to make.

At just one day old, sweet baby Max donned a hand-knit Valentine's Day hat. His parents Molly and Jace were all smiles, as were volunteers MaryAnn and Kate, and Nikki Lowery, nurse manager in our Family Maternity Center.

☕✨ This morning, the warm smell of fresh-brewed coffee filled our lobby as we opened our new in-house coffee shop, Buzz Stop 757.

Here’s the real "pick‑me‑up": 10% of monthly proceeds will support the SPAH Auxiliary, helping fund programs that benefit our patients and families.

Thank you to the leaders, Auxiliary members, and team members who joined us for today’s ribbon cutting. 💙

Stop by, grab a cup, and support a great cause! They’re open from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. and are located to the right of the registration desk in the main lobby.
