💚 From a spider bite to a life-saving diagnosis, Bobby’s journey is nothing short of miraculous. After 43 days on our oncology unit fighting leukemia, he returned with his family to spread holiday cheer—bringing cookies for every patient and a custom-carved 3-ft wooden Christmas tree for our 25 Days of Christmas tradition.

Bobby said, “I get emotional when I talk about the nurses. I love them beyond reproach right now. When I was in the bed, they got down to eye-level with me and held my hand. They didn’t have to do that. They’re angels.”

This season, we celebrate the power of care, community, and giving back.

One of our most meaningful holiday traditions belongs to Anthony White.❤️💚

For 38 years, Anthony has worked behind the scenes at our hospital as a maintenance mechanic, and every holiday season, he spends his personal time painting murals to bring joy to patients, families, and staff. Last week, he unveiled his 2025 murals: eight Charlie Brown scenes and a 3D Snoopy doghouse!

“When you work in a hospital, you see sick people and stressed employees, but I do my best to change their mood,” Anthony said at the unveiling. And he does that for so many of us, year after year! 🎄

Thank you for filling our hallways with color, nostalgia, and heart. 🎨✨

🏆 Congratulations to Dr. Deepak Talreja for being named the 2025 Physician of the Year by the John J. Krueger Foundation!

Dr. Talreja serves as the clinical chief of cardiology for Sentara Health and the director of the Cardiovascular Division at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. In addition to his clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Talreja volunteers his time at the Beach Health Clinic and shares countless hours with students considering a future in medicine.

Students from Princess Anne High School joined us at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for the city's annual internship day.

This event—now in its 33rd year— is organized by the Virginia Beach Central Business District Association. It offers students a unique look into health care and other career opportunities. Students were given hands-on tours of the operating room, emergency department, and intensive care unit while learning about the behind-the-scenes systems that power the hospital.

We are always proud and willing to host the next generation of healthcare professionals and support meaningful connections between students and their future careers.
