Cold 🥶 weather didn’t stop our fun in our Social Butterflies Club groups this month!
❄️Inside our cozy sessions, we’ve been busy building big skills through play, movement, and connection — the Social Butterflies Club way!
❄️From team snowball fights in the sensory gym, penguin bowling, and asking & answering winter-themed questions with friends, every activity was intentionally playful and skill-rich.
❄️Speech & Language Targets:

Sea Squad Adventures was the theme in our Summer Social Butterflies Camp last week!
🐙The "Marine Biologists in Training " learned about the coral reef and the sea life living there. The heat didn't stop the fun!
🐟Pretend play with friends using sea life vocabulary and language, self-regulation games, sensory-rich activities, and practicing social interactions was the target this week!

Summer Social Butterflies Camp Week 2 was all about the beach and shells!
🐚Our Seashell Safari led us to explore sea shells, sand, and beach creatures this week. Of course, we had time for water play, too!

Welcome to the Social Butterflies Club® where kids learn to be kids!
SBC provides social communication therapy and groups for children in a fun, structured environment. The unique structure of our program also develops speech, language, fine motor, gross motor, and social/play skills. We have been providing services to the Hampton Roads area since 2004.

Kids We Serve:
Children with delayed social skills are a diverse population. Some may have speech-language delays, gross-fine motor delays, cognitive delays, ADHD/ADD, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), or delayed development in the area of play skills resulting from limited opportunities to interact with other children.

Does your child have difficulty asking and/or answering questions? (How do you make a sandwich? What did you do in school today?)
Does your child have difficulty making friends because he/she prefers to play alone or does not like to share with others?
Does your child “get stuck” on one topic or type of toy? (Cars, trains, specific movies)
Does your child have difficulty taking turns with others? (In activities or in conversation)
Does your child walk around the perimeter of the playground or prefer to play in the sandbox?
Does your child have difficulty in the classroom setting and following the rules of the class? (Participating in activities, sitting in circle time, standing in line)
Does your child have difficulty in the classroom setting because he/she pushes other children when standing in line or on the playground?
