Want to save money on groceries without clipping coupons? What if you could make the food you already bought last way longer?

Registered Dietitian Shaye Arluk says food spoilage isn’t about poor quality—it’s about oxygen, moisture, ethylene gas, and temperature. When you control those four things, you can extend the life of your food by 30–50% 🙌

🥬 Game-changing tips to keep food fresh longer:
✔️ Store herbs properly and they can last almost two extra weeks
✔️ Wrap the tops of bananas to slow browning by five more days
✔️ Store ripe avocados submerged in water in the fridge for up to 10 extra days
✔️ Keep grains and beans in airtight containers, they can last 3–5 years
✔️ Place dairy, fruits, leafy greens, and herbs toward the back of the fridge (not the door!)
✔️ Use your freezer! Frozen fruits and veggies last 6 months to a year and often have higher nutrient density

🧊 Bonus tip: Every time you open the fridge, light and heat rush in—so food stored in the door spoils faster.

Plant-forward eating focuses on affordable staples like beans, lentils, and seasonal produce, keeping grocery bills low while boosting nutrition. Research shows that eating mostly plants can lower inflammation and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and even certain cancers.

Small changes can make a big difference for both your health and your household budget. 💚🥗
