For our next supervisor spotlight we want to introduce Sergeant Paige Rooks! With 6 total years at VBLS (2 of those years spent supervising), her biggest tip for all beach goers is to leave the inflatables AT THE POOL! + keep our beaches beautiful!! also make sure your toys and trash leave when you leave! 🌊

Her favorite part of the job is “being at the beach all day + helping my community AT THE SAME TIME! What a dream!” Lastly, her favorite spot to grab a bite to eat is !!

For our next supervisor spotlight, meet First Lieutenant Max McQuarrie! McQuarrie has spent his last 20 summers with VBLS and 14 of those seasons have been supervising. His favorite part of the job is anytime he gets the chance to teach… and soft sand runs at morning drill! His go to break activity is bodysurfing and going for a run at 🌊 You can also find him stopping for a cup of coffee from ☕️

Last but not least… his biggest tip for anyone visiting the beach is to teach your kids what number street you went to, point out hotels and other landmarks, encourage them to learn your phone number and take a current picture of them when you get to the beach in case they get lost.

Meet Lieutenant Mike McMahon! With 13 total years, 9 of those supervising, he is well versed in ocean rescue. His favorite part of his job is helping others and body surfing on his break when the waves are righteous!🌊 His favorite oceanfront lunch spot is of course! Finally his biggest tip for all beach goers is to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated!!🧴

Happy Monday! Today we want to spotlight Sergeant Jules Bourgeois! Jules has worked at VB Ocean Rescue for a total of 9 years and started supervising in 2023. Her favorite parts about her job are the opportunities she’s had to work with so many different people, many of whom have become close friends. She also loves being a junior guard instructor, competing with the comp team, working out on the beach, and of course, body surfing. Her favorite place to get lunch on the beach is !

Lastly, Her biggest tip for all beach goers is “know your limits in the ocean and work your way up. Build your swimming skills and confidence so you’re ready for open-water conditions🌊”
