Dr. Brad Carofino and Dr. Chad Manke have been named 2026 Coastal Virginia Magazine's Top Docs All-Stars, an honor awarded to physicians who have been selected as Top Docs for five consecutive years or more.

Both have earned this recognition for over 10 years, reflecting their expertise in shoulder replacement and care for conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder across Hampton Roads.

Every year, approximately 400,000 ACL injuries occur in the United States. A torn ACL does not heal without treatment, making ACL reconstruction one of the most common orthopaedic procedures.

Dr. Jennifer Byrd of Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists is the first in Hampton Roads to offer a new, less invasive procedure called the BEAR® Implant, the first medical advancement designed to enable the body to heal its own torn ACL.

This innovative approach expands treatment options for select patients with ACL injuries.

Meet Brandon Layne of Granby High School — our AOS Male Athlete of the Month!

A member of the Class of 2026, Brandon is a standout Indoor Track athlete competing in Pole Vault, Long Jump, High Jump, and Triple Jump. His dedication and talent have helped him become a 2× Regional Champion, District Champion, and State Qualifier.

Brandon is also a true scholar-athlete. He maintains an impressive 4.04 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and Computer Science Honor Society, and contributes to the Granby Strolling Strings and Orchestra, where he plays three different instruments. In addition to track, he’s also a dual-sport athlete, helping lead Granby’s Boys Volleyball team to a State Runner-Up finish.

Brandon’s commitment to excellence both in the classroom and in athletics makes him a remarkable role model for his teammates and community.
