Last week, I had the honor of joining the team at the Suffolk Christian Fellowship Center during their Wellness Market.

It was incredible to see the community come together to provide food and clothing to those in need. But we know that wellness is about more than just physical resources. At Destined for Brighter Futures, we believe that mental health support is a basic necessity, too.

I was grateful for the invite to set up a table and chat with neighbors about our Community Stabilization and Mental Health Skill-Building services. Whether you are unsheltered or just going through a tough season, you don’t have to carry the weight alone.

Huge thanks to SCFC for the invitation and for all they do for Suffolk! 🤝❤️

There is immense power in showing up. Being present in the community and giving back means directly supporting our neighbors, transforming a single day into countless opportunities for hope, warmth, and connection.

We were so honored to join the incredible Burbank Elementary Community Giveaway Day this past Saturday! This vital event, sponsored by NNHAMC in partnership with Phillippi MBC, brought together students, families, and neighbors to provide free outerwear, essential supplies, and critical resources for employment and family engagement.

I had the opportunity to attend the Coffee and Conversation networking meet and greet this past Friday. What an uplifting event! It was so inspiring to be surrounded by people who all share a passion for helping others. I truly enjoyed every connection I made. Destined For Brighter Futures was honored to attend the Re-Entry Employment and Resource Fair on Friday, hosted by the Western Tidewater Re-Entry Council in partnership with the Suffolk Workforce Development Center.

This powerful event brought together community partners, employers, and service providers with a shared mission: to help individuals, especially those returning from incarceration. Gain access to second-chance employment opportunities, resume support, and vital community resources.

We are truly grateful to be part of such meaningful work in Suffolk, where residents and families can connect to the tools they need to build brighter futures.

This past Friday, I had the privilege of meeting with Brian Tapp of Life Consultants, Inc. in Chesapeake, VA. Brian shared valuable information about the services they provide and gave me a tour of one of their Community Stabilization homes, which offers temporary housing for individuals while they access additional supports and services.

I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to learn more about the impactful work Life Consultants is doing in the mental health community. Partnerships like these continue to strengthen the network of care available to those in need. 💙
