Chaga harvesting season is ending soon!
Did you know you should only harvest chaga mushroom in the winter months, up until the maple sap stops running?
During winter, birch trees are dormant, which means the chaga growing on them has lower moisture content and more concentrated beneficial compounds like antioxidants, beta-glucans, and betulinic acid.
Harvesting during this time also helps:
❄️ Prevent mold during drying
🐜 Reduce insect contamination
🌳 Minimize stress on the host tree
Winter-harvested chaga makes for a cleaner, more potent extract — which is exactly why we only wild-harvest during the cold months here in Northern Minnesota.
