Michael’s story is one of perseverance, growth, and inspiration. For over ten years, Michael has been an active participant in Prevocational Services, dedicating himself to learning job skills, building appropriate workplace relationships, and overcoming personal barriers that once felt insurmountable. 🤜💥🤛

Throughout his time at VARC, Michael worked diligently to develop the confidence and capabilities needed to thrive in a professional setting. His commitment to self-improvement and his positive attitude made him a role model for others in the program. Michael’s journey reached a new milestone when he successfully completed a 60-day internship at a local grocery store, showcasing his skills and reliability in a real-world work environment. 🛒

Michael was invited to interview for a permanent position at a Bent and Dent grocery store—a testament to his hard work and determination. He has now officially completed VARC’s prevocational program and will continue his employment journey with long-term support through our Supported Employment Services. 🥳

In his new role, Michael will be responsible for stocking shelves, maintaining a clean work area, and organizing the storage space. His success is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when individuals are given the tools, support, and opportunities to shine. We are proud of Michael and excited to see all that he will accomplish in this next chapter. 🧡

Last Friday we walked for a cure at the third annual VARC Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Mauston, and happily raised $2,100 benefiting the Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation. 🩷👟 We enjoyed beautiful weather, camaraderie with fellow walkers, and a great sense of community support for our contribution to ending breast cancer for good. 🥰 Thank you to everyone who sponsored us... we couldn't have done it without you! 💗

Meet Mikayla! 👋 We're proud to showcase her current journey through VARC's Supported Employment Program for Month, as we highlight and celebrate employment for all abilities. 🧡

Mikayla spreads happiness and creativity wherever she goes—her vibrant energy and passion for singing, dancing, and creating art for her friends brightens every space she enters. ☀️ Currently, she is employed at Culver's and is diligently working towards her ambition of securing a full-time position in the community. Mikayla also has experience working in a pet store, which emphasized her caring nature and love for animals. 🐾

We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for her and her employment dreams! 💼
