Never waste a kind thought—if it crosses your mind, say it out loud, because the smallest words can shift someone’s entire day!

That quick “I appreciate you,” the unexpected compliment, the moment of encouragement you *almost* keep to yourself—they matter more than you realize, and they cost you nothing!

What they DO is create connection, lift moods, and remind people they’re seen, so don’t hold back or overthink it—kindness isn’t meant to be stored, it’s meant to be shared.

Erin doesn’t have “extra time.”

She has a full-time career at Vernon Health.
She’s raising kids.
She’s running from one event to the next.
Her schedule is full, just like yours.

And still… she shows up.

Not perfectly. Not without setbacks.
She’s had her ups and downs like all of us.
But she keeps coming back. She stays consistent. She does the work.

And now?
Her son is right there beside her. Learning what it looks like to take care of your body, your health, and your life. Watching his mom lead by example.

That’s bigger than fitness.
That’s legacy.

Erin is the kind of person who makes this place what it is,
for her family, for our members, and for the people she serves every day at Vernon Health.

That’s what the Freedom Fun-Run of Viroqua, Wisconsin is all about.

“I started CrossFit in July two years ago while dealing with a knee injury, but I was determined to push through. After two cortisone shots, my knee began to feel much better. I initially went to Legends twice a week, but my joints were so stiff that I didn’t feel like I was moving well, so I added mobility work two days a week, which made a huge difference. Around that time, Angie and Jesse were having great success with intermittent fasting, and since it had worked for me in the past, I combined that with keto and started to see the weight come off. When CrossFit offered a six-week program that fit my schedule, I committed to going five days a week, and that became a real turning point as I started seeing muscle definition. In November, I was sick for about three weeks and also experienced a family medical emergency, which caused me to lose an additional 5–7 pounds quickly, but I’ve been able to maintain since then. Overall, I’ve lost 68 pounds, feel amazing, and am excited to keep building strength and muscle definition—one day at a time, because life truly feels so much better now.”

It’s easy to get caught up in our own goals, our own lives—but taking a moment to encourage someone, to show up for them, to genuinely support them… that’s what makes a difference.

Support builds confidence.Support builds connection.Support builds community.

Be the person who shows up for others, who claps for them, who reminds them they’re not doing it alone.

Most people don’t fail because they don’t know what to do.
They fail because they try to do it alone.

No plan.
No accountability.

There’s something powerful about doing hard things together.

Community isn’t just about showing up when it’s easy — it’s about the tired days, the moments you’d quit if you were alone… but you don’t, because someone is counting on you and standing next to you.

It’s the high fives, the encouragement, the “you’ve got this” when you don’t believe it yourself yet.

We rise faster, stronger, and more consistently when we’re surrounded by people who push us, support us, and remind us who we are on the days we forget.

We had 34 people hit the Committed Club (16+ check-ins)…and yes, this is our highest yet.

Let that sink in.

That’s 34 people choosing consistency.
34 people choosing long-term health.
34 people proving what’s possible at CrossFit Viroqua.

But here’s the real story…

How CrossFit Viroqua came to be!

I have always been into fitness. Growing up, I was always participating in school sports and continued through college as I pursued a degree in Exercise Science. After graduating from Central College in Pella, IA, I started my career as a personal trainer helping people one-on-one and slowly growing into small group training. One day a client asked if I had heard of CrossFit. My college pole vault coach had introduced me to CrossFit and I had been following the main site on and off for a few years. I began following more intently and decided to get my CrossFit Level 1 in December of 2012 so I could begin coaching as an official CrossFit coach. WOW, did that change things up for me! As soon as I returned, I switched all my prior programming for my clients and started incorporating the programming into my own workouts. After a few short months of doing CrossFit style workouts, I noticed faster results, my joints were no longer hurting, my cardiovascular endurance was improving as well as my range of motion and I wasn't getting bored with the workouts. My clients were getting better results and having more fun in their workouts as well. In June of 2014, I opened CrossFit Viroqua under the guidance of my employer at the time, Vernon Memorial Healthcare (VMH). The support and encouragement from the community have been more than I could ever imagine! I am excited to begin a new chapter serving our current as well as welcoming new members.
