Today, we celebrate National Women Physicians Day 🩺✨
Observed every February 3rd, this day honors the birthday of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell (1821), the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States in 1849.
Despite facing immense prejudice, Dr. Blackwell opened the door for generations of women in medicine. We also recognize trailblazers like Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman physician, and Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte, the first Native American woman physician.
This day is about celebrating achievements, uplifting mentors, supporting equity in medicine, and inspiring future women physicians in a field they helped reshape. 💙

Happy National Pediatrician Day 🩺💙
Today we’re celebrating the doctors who care for our littlest patients and make a lifelong impact on families every single day.
Through our TNPA side we not only help credential pediatricians throughout the USA but have even helped open and establish practices that continue to serve communities.
At our JMA department, we’re proud to introduce our students to the pediatrician career path teaching them what it truly means to combine science, compassion, and advocacy for children’s health. From exploring medical education to understanding day-to-day life in pediatrics, we love helping students envision a future where they can make a difference.
To all pediatricians: thank you for the care, patience, and heart you bring to your work. And to our JMA students this could be you one day ✨

📰 Big news for rural healthcare! 🌟
The American Medical Association has officially approved new alternative payment model standards designed to strengthen rural hospital sustainability and keep care local.
The new standards call for:
✔️ Scheduled fixed-cost payments
✔️ Adequate, predictable reimbursement
✔️ Fair patient cost sharing
✔️ Reduced administrative burden
“Alternative payment models that meet the AMA’s new minimum standards will best support the financial viability of rural hospitals struggling to stay open,” said AMA Board Member Ilse Levin, DO.
Rural health continues to be a major focus nationwide from updated Medicare tools to $50B in HHS funding aimed at improving access and outcomes in rural communities. 🏥✨

California’s rural hospitals play a vital role for nearly 2 million residents, yet many face serious challenges. Over half are operating with negative margins, leading to reduced services like OB and chemotherapy. Rural communities rely on 76 rural hospitals, including 38 Critical Access Hospitals but financial strain, staffing shortages, and service closures put access at risk.
Supporting rural healthcare means protecting essential care for some of California’s most underserved communities. 💙🌾
