Feb. 23rd will be the 7th day of the Chinese New Year holidays. It is considered "People's Day" which is a birthday for all human beings aka as everyone's birthday. The day is spent nourishing the body and mind such as to eat 7 types of vegetables and long noodles. Traditionally, this day is celebrated by climbing mountains or hiking to signify reaching new heights, seeking good health, and welcoming prosperity. It is a popular, active tradition, especially in Hong Kong.
Therefore it is only fitting that that our Visalia Chinese New Year Celebration Fair on Feb. 28th has Chinese Wishing Trees. Aka as Money Trees which are a big part of Chinese New Year festivities particularly among the Cantonese Chinese. You will write your wishes on paper to be stuffed in a lucky red packet called Lai See/ Hong Bao which will be hung on a tree branch. Customary this red packet is tied to an orange to be toss up into the tree. It is said the higher up the red packet are on the tree, the better chance your wishes would come true because it is closest to heaven. This activity requires 3 tickets per packet and you will select a red packet to keep as a souvenir. Refer to Hong Kong Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lam_Tsuen_wishing_trees
