Happy 100th Birthday, Evelyn! This week, we celebrate one of our truly extraordinary residents. Evelyn has been a lifelong reader, devouring everything from The New York Times to international spy novels. Before retirement, she thrived as the Executive Treasurer Secretary for Gibaud Cosmetics, where she managed staffing for the Research & Development department. Together with her husband, Ed, Evelyn explored the world, visiting an incredible 74 countries! Here in our community, she’s known for her love of our Restaurant Cuisine – always sharing, “My compliments to the chef.” She enjoys relaxing with a glass of red wine by the window during Thursday’s live entertainment.

We were honored to celebrate this milestone with a community cake, a heartfelt card and gift (including her favorite: Portuguese wine), and warm wishes for a year ahead filled with health and happiness. Cheers to 100 years, Evelyn!

This Veterans Day, we proudly recognized and honored the Veterans in our community with a certificate and a small token of appreciation. We are especially grateful to our resident volunteers who made the ceremony so meaningful through singing, reading poems, and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Kathleen, one of our associates and a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, introduced the community to a Missing Man Table, sharing its powerful symbolism and significance. She also generously donated a new flag for our flagpole, which we raised together to conclude the ceremony.

For the fifth year in a row, our talented residents will be performing festive songs to celebrate the holidays – and this year, we have a little something extra planned! One of our favorite traditions here at Voorhees, our annual Fall Fest and Costume Contest, was a huge success! Every year is special, and this one was no exception. We loved seeing all the kids in their amazing costumes, parading around. A big shoutout to Jack, Tessie’s grandson, for once again keeping the music and energy flowing! And heartfelt thanks to everyone who spun the wheel at our Alzheimer’s table and joined the 50/50 raffle – your generosity brings us one step closer to a cure. It was a fantastic Fall afternoon filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit!

Things really heated up at our Chili Cook-Off here at Voorhees! Three mouthwatering chilis went head-to-head, and our residents got to be the judges with a special “Chili Flight” tasting experience – complete with voting tickets to crown their favorite. After the votes were counted, our Restaurant Team proved they’ve got the ultimate recipe for success, taking home the win by a landslide! Congratulations to our champions – and thank you to everyone who joined in the fun!
