Sorry if you don’t remember this Above The Influence commercial from 2006. The campaign was already stronger than the uniformed pyramid scheme approach of D.A.R.E., but we still see the same level of misinformation about low back pain today.
If you tweak your back, staying on the couch is not recovery. It reduces capacity, increases sensitivity, and teaches your body to fear movement. Rest can help in the first day or two, but staying inactive for long periods slows everything down.
A better approach is simple. Move in ways you can tolerate. Build confidence. Gradually load your spine and muscles again.
Get off the couch and move. Your back is adaptable and capable.
