Why don’t you want me to use e-ci******es?
• Science shows that e-ci******es contain ingredients that are addictive and could harm different parts of
your body.
• Right now, your brain is still developing, which means you are more vulnerable to addiction.
Many e-ci******es contain ni****ne, and using ni****ne can change your brain to make you crave more ni****ne. It can also affect your memory and
concentration. I don’t want that for you!
• E-ci******es contain chemicals that are harmful.
When people use e-ci******es, they breathe in tiny particles that can harm their lungs.
• The cloud that people exhale from e-ci******es can expose you to chemicals that are not safe to breathe.
We care about you, and want you to be healthy! 😊

START THE CONVERSATION ABOUT E-CIGARETTES
Find the right moment.
• A more natural discussion will increase the likelihood that your teen will listen. Rather than saying “we need to talk,” you might ask your teen what he or she thinks about a situation you witness together, such as:
» Seeing someone use an e-cigarette in person or in a video.
» Passing an e-cigarette shop when you are walking or driving.
» Seeing an e-cigarette advertisement in a store or magazine or on the internet.

Ask for support.
• Not sure where to begin? Ask your health care provider to talk to your teen about the risks of e-ci******es.
• You might also suggest that your teen talk with other trusted adults, such as relatives, teachers, faith leaders, coaches, or counselors whom you know are aware of the risks of e-ci******es.
• These supportive adults can help reinforce your message as a parent.
YES, YOU CAN! 😊

We had the opportunity to visit the Southwood 7th grade Health classes for our To***co-Free Presentation focused on the realities of va**ng, ci******es, and smokeless to***co.

We talked honestly about ni****ne addiction, the harmful chemicals found in these products, and how they can impact brain development, athletic performance, and overall health. Most importantly, we encouraged students to “Know Why You Say No.”

When students understand the why behind their choices, they’re more confident in standing up to peer pressure and protecting their future goals.

Thank you to Mrs. M. and students, for welcoming us and being engaged in the conversation. We’re proud to help empower the next generation to live to***co-free!

We had a wonderful time visiting with the amazing students at The Montessori School at WPC for a To***co-Free Presentation!

Through fun activities, simple science, and lots of great questions, students learned:
🫁 How their lungs work
🚫 Why to***co, smokeless, and va**ng products are harmful
💪 How to make healthy choices
⭐ "KNOW" why they can say “NO” with confidence

Our goal is to empower kids early with knowledge and skills. They were curious and thoughtful!

Thank you to the teachers and staff for welcoming us, and to the students for being such great listeners and participants. Keep choosing healthy, keep asking questions, and keep being YOU!

“Through With Chew” Week:
Americans all over the country are pledging to quit smokeless to***co. Are You In?

"Through with Chew Week" is a national, week-long to***co-free health campaign held every February during the third full week. It focuses on helping people quit smokeless to***co, including chew, dip, s***f, snus, dissolvable to***co, and oral ni****ne pouches. Whatever you call it, smokeless to***co is addictive and contains chemicals that make it more dangerous than you may think.

Although you don’t inhale smokeless to***co, there are still more than 4,000 chemicals in some of these products.

Cancer often starts where the to***co is held in the mouth. Cancer caused by chewing to***co often starts as leukoplakia, which is a gray-white patch in the mouth or throat. Chewing to***co is also linked to esophageal and pancreatic cancers.

One dip for 30 minutes has as much ni****ne as smoking 3 ci******es.

Quit Now Indiana can help you quit to***co. Challenge yourself to go to***co-free for 30 days. Call 1.800.Quit.Now to get started.

We had the privilege of working with Mrs. H. and her amazing Health classes at Southwood Jr/Sr High School!

The discussion explored how ni****ne affects the brain, body, and future — from addiction and lung damage to how it can change the way teens think and learn. Students were reminded of the truth about va**ng, smoking, and smokeless to***co, along with the long-term risks. We also shared ways to make healthy choices and stand strong against peer pressure.

The message of the day: KNOW why you should say NO — because understanding the risks is the first step to making smart, healthy decisions.

February is known to be the month of love. Make sure to show your heart some extra love by keeping it healthy!

This year a lot of things in our world have been difficult, but you don't have to let smoking cause more heartache!

Most of the time when we think of smoking hurting the body, we only think about lung health.

Smoking can hurt EVERY part of the body, including the heart.

Our heart is so essential to our overall wellness and one of the best things we can do for our heart is to keep it smoke-free!
