Marilyn was born May 29, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to James and Agnes Moroney. Marilyn grew up on Chicago’s South Side, attended St. Carthage Grammar School and Aquinas Catholic High School. She attended Mundelein College before marrying and starting her family. She had a lifelong close relationship with her childhood friends known as the Whosits.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Martin Ginnane, on October 18, 1958. They were married for 59 years. Together, they raised six children. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, nana, and friend whose life was centered around her family.

She loved hosting Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, and St. Patrick’s Day parties! For many years, she planned our yearly family vacation to Port Aransas. She loved having her family around her. She found such joy hearing about her grandchildren’s lives, their day-to-day life and achievements. Nana’s house was where we had gathered for the past 50 years! There will be a hole in our family that cannot be replaced, but her love and support will be felt in our hearts for the rest of our lives.

Marilyn loved to travel, after Martin’s retirement, they traveled all over the world. They attended all four major tennis tournaments. Marilyn and Martin were also avid tennis players.

Marilyn was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church for 51 years. She was a member of the Bereavement Committee, Homebound Ministry, and Women’s Bible Study. She also volunteered at the Caritas Thrift Store for many years.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Ginnane; parents, James and Agnes Moroney; brother, Reverend William Moroney; son, Joseph Patrick Ginnane; infant son, Timothy Michael Ginnane; and son-in-law, Joseph Dvorsky, III.
