Charlie Schlecte is a comprehensive ophthalmologist
who is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been with Waco Eye Associates since 2007.

After being raised in Waco, Dr. Schlecte attended the University of Notre Dame where he graduated Magna
Cum Laude in 1999. From there he pursued his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, graduating with High Honors in 2003. While in Galveston, he was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then went on to complete his Ophthalmology Residency in Dallas at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Schlecte is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the Texas Medical Association. He has been very active within the McLennan County Medical Society as well, serving as their president in 2014.

Dr. Liu has been caring for patients at Waco Eye Associates since 1989 — bringing decades of experience, precision, and compassion to every visit. A Board-Certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist, he’s dedicated to helping his patients achieve their best possible vision and eye health. 👁️

A Texas native and UT Austin graduate (Hook ’em!), Dr. Liu completed advanced fellowship training in Cataract and Refractive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He’s also published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and continues to stay at the forefront of his field.

When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Liu enjoys time with his family — especially his two new grandchildren!
