Good afternoon,
I would like to share some of Comfort Creek therapy's happy summer vibes .
Our therapy team at Comfort Creek includes Heather Bozeman, PTA/DOR, Emily Carter, COTA, Carly Anderson, MEd,CCC-SLP, and Garrett Wilcher, COTA
We believe in ensuring that our residents have the most optimal quality of life. We love to have therapy groups that enrich lives and create smiles, all while being functional and working towards PT/OT and ST therapy goals. I'm sharing pictures of the newest project that our residents have taken on in therapy, a garden group!
A local construction company reached out to the therapy team and asked if they could provide something to our department that would be beneficial. After consultations, the idea of the garden was born. They built and donated four raised garden beds, including the soil, plant food, plants and even a hose. With the help of our therapy caseload, we were able to fill the beds with soil while working on standing tolerance and balance, plant flowers and vegetables while working on reaching tasks and cognitive sequencing, and keep the plants watered while working on gait training and safety awareness.
Our next goal for the group, when the veggies are ready, is to make a yummy homemade salsa with our bounty from the garden. Fresh tomatoes and peppers scream fun in the sun! With this activity , we can assess safety, swallowing, fine motor control and sitting/standing balance and tolerance.
I cannot say enough about this therapy team and the joy that they bring to our residents. We look forward to many more summer fun activities!
