This Social Work Month, we’re proud to celebrate Vallene, our Admissions Coordinator at South Haven. She was drawn to long‑term care by the chance to work in a supportive, rewarding environment that feels like family — and she brings that same warmth and reassurance to every resident and family she meets.

In her role, Vallene helps create a smooth, confident transition into South Haven. Building trust is at the heart of her work, and she’s passionate about ensuring families know their loved ones will receive exceptional care. Moments of gratitude from residents and families reaffirm the meaningful impact she makes each day.

What she finds most fulfilling is knowing that families can place their confidence in our team, even during challenging transitions. She sees our mission of Dignity in Life reflected in the respect, care, and teamwork shown by our team throughout the building — qualities she deeply values. And she wishes more people knew that skilled nursing can truly feel like home, especially in communities like South Haven where compassion is the foundation.

Because our food delivery was delayed due to icy roads yesterday, we experienced a short supply for a time and service slowed down. Thank you to everyone for your patience and support, we truly appreciate our amazing community! 💚

This Social Work Month, we’re proud to celebrate Mackenzie, our Social Services Coordinator at South Haven. Her passion for serving older adults began early, shaped by her close bond with her grandparents and the example set by her mom, who works as a social worker in long‑term care. That early exposure instilled in her a deep appreciation for advocacy and meaningful connection.

At South Haven, Mackenzie is dedicated to supporting residents and families through every step of their journey. She loves getting to know each person, offering guidance during transitions, and creating moments that help residents feel seen and supported. She also values the teamwork that makes providing exceptional care possible.

To celebrate National Oreo Day, residents read fun facts about this favorite treat and taste-tested many flavors: Original, Toffee Crunch, Birthday, Golden, Mint, and Reeces. After sampling them all, Mint emerged as the favorite, and classic filling won out over double-stuffed or thin varieties. Our team joined in the fun as well, taking part in a few friendly Oreo-themed competitions that added plenty of laughter to the day!
