🦷✨ Pet Dental Health: More Important Than You Think! ✨🦷

Dental care isn’t just about fresh breath — it’s a big part of your pet’s overall health.

When dental disease goes untreated, bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream and affect the heart, liver, and kidneys. What starts as plaque and tartar can turn into pain, infection, and even tooth loss.

💭 Myth: “Bad breath is normal for pets.”
✅ Fact: Persistent bad breath is often a sign of dental disease.

💭 Myth: “If they’re eating fine, their teeth must be fine.”
✅ Fact: Pets are great at hiding pain — many will continue eating even with significant dental issues.

💭 Myth: “Dental disease only affects older pets.”
✅ Fact: Many pets show signs of dental disease by age 3. It can start earlier than you think!

💭 Myth: “Dry kibble cleans their teeth.”
✅ Fact: While some dental diets can help, most kibble alone doesn’t prevent plaque and tartar buildup.

💭 Myth: “Dental cleanings are just cosmetic.”
✅ Fact: Professional cleanings remove bacteria below the gumline — where the most harmful damage happens.

💭 Myth: “If I don’t see tartar, their mouth is healthy.”
✅ Fact: Dental disease often starts below the gumline, where you can’t see it.

Regular dental exams and cleanings help keep your pet comfortable, healthy, and smiling for years to come. 🐾💙

We’ve made the difficult decision to no longer see exotic pets at our hospital. 🐾💛

Our exotic patients — from curious reptiles to colorful birds to the tiniest pocket pets — have brought so much personality and joy into our hospital over the years. We know how special and unique your scaly, feathered, and small-but-mighty family members are, and we’re truly grateful that you trusted us with their care.

While this chapter is changing, our commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to our community remains the same. We will continue to be here for your dogs and cats with the same dedication, kindness, and attention you’ve come to expect from our team.

If you need assistance finding a trusted exotic animal veterinarian, please don’t hesitate to call us — we’re more than happy to help point you in the right direction. Thank you for your understanding, your support, and for allowing us to care for your beloved pets. 💛

💘🐾 Valentine’s Day came a little early at the clinic! 🐾💘

We set up the cutest little kissing booth for some festive fun, and our adorable patients completely stole the spotlight. From sweet nose boops to camera-ready smooches, these pups were more than ready to spread the love. Honestly, we think they may have found their true calling as professional Valentine’s kiss-givers. 😘✨

We’re so lucky to care for these sweet faces every single day. While we’re here to provide the best medical care possible, we also get to celebrate the joy, personality, and unconditional love each pet brings into our hospital. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re feeling extra grateful for all the furry love that fills our clinic. 💕

Which one of these little sweethearts would you line up for a smooch from? 🐾

🐾💙 February is National Cat Health Month! 💙🐾

Our feline friends may be independent, mysterious, and total masters of hiding things… but when it comes to their health, they need us to stay one step ahead. 🐱✨

National Cat Health Month is the perfect reminder to make sure your kitty is feeling their very best. Regular wellness exams, up-to-date vaccines, dental care, parasite prevention, and routine lab work all play a huge role in keeping your cat happy and healthy — even if they act like they’re perfectly fine.

Cats are experts at masking pain or illness, which is why preventive care is so important. Catching small issues early can make a big difference in their long-term health and comfort. 💙

This month (and every month), we’re celebrating all the whiskers, toe beans, head boops, and loud purrs that make our jobs so special.

If your cat is due for a check-up, give us a call — we’d love to help keep your feline friend thriving for years to come! 🐾

Big changes start with small steps—and your pet will notice! 🐾✨

Ways to Change Your Pet’s Life (Starting Today!)

✔️ Daily movement – A walk, a game of fetch, or a laser-pointer chase keeps bodies healthy and minds happy.
✔️ Mental enrichment – Puzzle toys, sniff games, or teaching a new trick = boredom buster deluxe.
✔️ Fresh food & water check – Clean bowls, fresh water, and properly portioned meals make a big difference.
✔️ Health check habits – Look at ears, teeth, paws, and coat regularly so you catch changes early.
✔️ Comfort matters – Cozy beds, safe spaces, and predictable routines help pets feel secure.
✔️ Love & attention – Belly rubs, cuddles, and praise are powerful (and free!) life upgrades.
✔️ Preventive care – Stay current on vaccines, parasite prevention, and wellness visits—it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

You don’t need a big overhaul to change a pet’s life—just a few thoughtful actions can lead to a happier, healthier companion. 💙🐶🐱

Car trips are more fun when your pet rides safe and stress-free! 🚗🐾

Before you head out, give this Pet Car Safety Checklist a quick review to keep everyone protected along the way:

✔️ Buckle them in – Use a crash-tested harness, secured carrier, or pet seat belt. Unrestrained pets can be seriously injured during sudden stops.
✔️ Pack the essentials – Bring water, food, medications, leashes, waste bags, and a favorite toy or blanket for comfort.
✔️ Plan for breaks – Schedule regular stops for potty breaks, hydration, and stretching (for both humans and pets!).
✔️ Never leave pets alone in the car – Even in cool weather, temperatures can change quickly and become dangerous.
✔️ ID is a must – Make sure your pet’s collar and microchip info are up to date in case of an unexpected detour.
✔️ Keep heads inside – Open windows are tempting, but debris and sudden movements can cause injuries.

A little preparation goes a long way toward a safe, happy journey. 🐶🐱

We wish you smooth roads, wagging tails, and peaceful purrs wherever your travels take you! 🎄✨

Whether your pet has scales, feathers, or floppy ears, you can trust Dr. Denham’s knowledge, experience, and gentle care. Have an exotic pet or thinking about getting one? We’re here to help every step of the way! 🐾
