Are you suffering from chronic pain in your back, leg, arm, or abdomen? Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) Therapy might be a solution for you. SCS is a procedure that involves the use of a small device that is implanted under the skin and sends electrical impulses to the spinal cord to control chronic pain. This innovative technology has been proven effective in reducing chronic pain from conditions like sciatica, spinal cord injury or disease, and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Spinal cord stimulation can improve overall quality of life and sleep. Talk to the experts at Carolina Pain and Spine today if you want more information about how SCS Therapy could benefit you. https://carolinapainandspine.com/services/

Epidural Steroid Injections treat pain that radiates into different areas of your body from the spine. Pinched nerves in the cervical and lumbar spine can cause pain in the neck, shoulders, and arms. Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or radiculopathy can compress nerves and cause inflammation and pain. A cervical or lumbar epidural steroid injection can be used to reduce this inflammation. To administer the medication, the physician inserts a needle into the space through which the spinal nerves travel. Contrast dye and/or fluoroscopic guidance are used to make sure that the needle is positioned correctly near the painful nerve(s). An anti-inflammatory medication is injected to relieve pressure and decrease swelling. Facet joints are small joints at each segment of the spine that provide stability and help guide motion. The facet joints can become painful due to arthritis of the spine, a back injury, or mechanical stress to the back. Facet joint injections are a popular alternative to more invasive surgeries. Facet joint injections usually have two goals: to help diagnose the cause and location of pain and also to provide pain relief: The procedure involves injecting a mixture of local anesthetic and steroid into targeted areas around your spine using x-ray guidance to ensure accuracy. Pain relief typically begins within hours of the injection, but will continue over time as the medication kicks in (1-2 days after). Carolina Pain and Spine is proud to offer this alternative to surgery to patients. Contact us today to learn more and find out if you're a candidate. https://carolinapainandspine.com/services/

Get long-lasting Pain Relief with Radiofrequency Ablation. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat to destroy targeted tissue. During the procedure, radiofrequency waves are transmitted through a precisely placed needle to generate localized heat surrounding targeted nerve fibers. This process effectively interrupts the transmission of pain signals to the brain, providing relief for qualifying patients. As an alternative to more extensive surgical interventions, RFA may offer lasting relief for people with chronic pain, especially in the lower back, neck, and arthritic joints. Trigger point injections are used to treat painful muscle knots and contractions that develop when muscles fail to relax properly. These problem areas can often be palpated under the skin. The injection is administered directly into the tightened muscle region, also known as the trigger point. To learn more about trigger point injections or to discuss your treatment options, please contact our Carolina Pain and Spine. We would be happy to conduct an examination and consultation to determine if trigger point injections are an appropriate treatment approach for your condition. https://carolinapainandspine.com/services/

Degenerative disc disease refers to the gradual deterioration of spinal discs. These discs, which serve as flexible cushions between the vertebrae in the spinal column, play a vital role in absorbing shocks and facilitating comfortable movement, bending, and twisting. It is important to note that the degeneration of spinal discs is a natural part of the aging process, affecting everyone over time. The most common symptoms of DDD are neck pain and back pain. Pain can come and go, lasting for weeks or months. Numbness, or tingling may occur in the arms or legs. Pain may also radiate down the buttocks or lower back and worsen with sitting, bending or lifting. If you are experiencing DDD symptoms, Carolina Pain and Spine has treatment options that can help.
