Early autumn in Traditional Chinese Medicine is the season of the Large Intestine, a time to harvest what we’ve cultivated and gently release what no longer serves us. 🍂
Just as the trees shed their leaves, our bodies and minds benefit from letting go of what’s outlived its purpose.
A great point for supporting this seasonal transition is Large Intestine 1 (Shang Yang, “Metal Yang”).
Located on the radial (thumb) side of the index finger, just above the nail bed, LI1 is a small but powerful point.
Physically, it supports immune function as the weather cools, helps ease sinus congestion, and stimulates the large intestine channel to aid elimination.
Emotionally, it invites clarity, grounding, and the gentle release of stagnant thoughts or feelings (perfect for the inward shift of autumn). 🍁
👉 To work with LI1, massage or press with your thumb, for 1–2 minutes.
With each exhale, visualize yourself releasing what you no longer need, creating space for the season ahead.
💬 Feel free to try pair it with this reflection prompt: What am I ready to release to move into this next season with clarity?
