Do you remember the first time someone made you feel SHAME about your diagnosis?
For me, it was shortly after I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at age 23. Though I was scared and unsure what my future would look like, I felt so much relief to finally have a NAME.
There were others like me? They felt the constant fatigue, pain, and fog in their brain too!!!!
I was excited to share the answers to the unsolved puzzle with my friend from church. Her eyes narrowed and she stroked her hair back behind her ear before saying
“Are you sure? Maybe you are just thinking this because that’s what my roommate has, and your symptoms are similar.”
She didn’t know that I saw 8 doctors before receiving a diagnosis
She didn’t know that I had never heard of fibro before, and could have used a friend who knew more about it
She didn’t know that the statement made me SHUT UP about my illness for 18 YEARS after that.
We don’t talk about it because we don’t want to be seen as WEAK, less than or OTHER
We wear a mask of SAMENESS with everyone else and CRASH in private because we overdid it.
Can you relate?
Type YES in the comments if this was you. Is it time to stand in the POWER of being ALL you, ALL the time?
It is for me! No more hiding or worry about what others think. I am strong despite my diagnosis, and helping others unlock that freedom EVERYDAY.
When you’re ready, Message me so you can get that FREEDOM too ❤️
