Please join us in congratulating Lusia on her retirement after 6 years at Communitas 🎉

As Program Director of the Albion Street Residence, Lusia led with integrity, care, and unwavering dedication. She had a rare gift for turning a house into a true home - one where residents, families, and staff felt welcomed, supported, and valued each day. No matter the challenges a day might bring, Lusia was known for her warmth, laughter, positivity, and ability to make people feel at ease the moment they walked through the door.

Lusia strongly encouraged a family-centered, team-oriented culture, always leading by example and taking initiative to lift others up. She inspired those around her to focus on positive thinking, celebrate love and faith, and work together with compassion and purpose. Her leadership and commitment to our mission have left a lasting and meaningful mark on our community.

We are deeply grateful for Lusia’s service and wish her all the best in this next chapter, as she looks forward to spending more time with her family and enjoying a well-earned retirement.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Card. Deb was a valued and cherished member of the Communitas family and spent many years calling Albion Street home. She will be remembered for her love of Hello Kitty and her lifelong admiration for the Beatles. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Deb’s family, housemates, staff, and all who knew and loved her. We invite you to remember her when you hear a Beatles song.

A celebration of life is being planned, and we will provide further details when they become available.

❄️ With Gratitude ❄️

Through even the most challenging winter conditions, our Facilities Management and Transportation teams went above and beyond - clearing snow, navigating difficult travel, and ensuring our group homes and programs remained safe, warm, and welcoming.

At the same time, our Residential staff worked tirelessly to keep individuals safe, supported, and engaged, turning a snowy day into one filled with care, connection, and meaningful activities.

Thank you for your dedication, flexibility, and compassion during the storm. Your commitment truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful for all that you do. 💙👏

This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals we support, and our staff. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back once conditions improve.❄
