⚠⚠ On Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Wakefield Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA (DEA) will host the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at Wakefield’s Public Safety Building, located at 1 Union Street. At this event, the community can drop off unwanted or expired tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs for safe disposal.

Collection sites cannot accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original containers. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

Many pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens are year-round disposal locations. For more information or to find additional collection sites near you, visit the DEA's Take Back website - > https://www.dea.gov/takebackday

🍽️ SNAP Benefits & Why They Matter
About 80% of SNAP households include children, a person with a disability, or an older adult.
People with disabilities are more likely to experience food insecurity, which makes SNAP an essential program to ensure they—and their families—have access to healthy meals.

💳 SNAP benefits are distributed monthly: the federal government sends them to states, and states distribute them to eligible individuals. October benefits have already been sent on schedule.

⚠️ Important: If the government shutdown continues, November SNAP benefits could be delayed, putting vulnerable people—including people with disabilities—at risk of going hungry.

ACT NOW: https://action.thearc.org/BPzcfsy

The rights of students with disabilities are under serious threat.

The Administration has just gutted the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), the Department of Education office responsible for enforcing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Without people in place to enforce the law, states could ignore their responsibilities to students with disabilities. This puts millions of students at risk.

We need Congress to act now.
