We had a ROCKIN' TIME at our GarageBand Extravaganza as part of our 20th Anniversary event series!🎤🎸

The collaboration and songwriting that happened in just a short afternoon was pretty cool to see.🤘😎

As part of our 20th Anniversary Celebration Series, each month, we are continuing to host events to bring members of our community together to make music and celebrate the beautiful connections that we have made over the past 20 years.

This April, we are hosting a children’s event – Rockin‘ Recycled Rain Sticks!

For this event, children will use some recycled materials to make rain sticks, and will learn and play along to some nature-themed songs to celebrate Earth Day!

The event will be led by music therapist Kylie Elliott.

We’re excited to share an important update from Roman Music Therapy Services.

As our organization continues to grow, we are welcoming Bryan Kohl as our new Chief Executive Officer. Meredith Pizzi will transition into a Founder & Owner | Executive Advisor role and will remain the owner of the company.

Bryan brings strong experience in the human services sector in Massachusetts and a deep appreciation for the role music can play in supporting health and well-being.

Meredith will remain closely involved in the organization’s strategic direction and community relationships, and our leadership team will continue to be supported by Jennifer Ray (COO) and Shannon Laine (Clinical Program Manager).

Roman Music Therapy Services also remains a Certified Women Business Enterprise in Massachusetts, and our mission to bring connection, well-being, and shared joy through music therapy continues to guide our work every day.

After 20 years serving our community, we are grateful for the partners, families, and organizations who have grown with us - and we look forward to the next chapter together.

🎉 Today, we’re celebrating two years of Shannon as Clinical Program Manager at Roman Music Therapy Services!

Over the past 2 years, Shannon has been an amazing leader for our clinical team. She wears many essential hats - supporting our Music Therapists and Programmatic Music Assistants, managing community contracts, connecting with clients about services, and fostering an incredibly musical, fun, and supportive workplace.

Her impact to Roman Music Therapy Services cannot be overstated - We’re so grateful to have her on our team!

As Roman Music Therapy Services celebrates 20 years this year, we are sharing stories from clients, families, partners, and more, to provide a glimpse into the impact that music therapy has had on our community over the years.

To kick off this series, we heard from staff members at the Lawrence Public Schools about their experience with music therapy.

🎉This week we are celebrating Hillary's one year work anniversary at Roman Music Therapy Services!

Though Hillary has been working with us for a year, her Roman Music Therapy Services journey began years prior as a Sprouting Melodies parent!

It's been wonderful to have Hillary be involved with Roman Music Therapy Services in this way. We are grateful for her advocacy and passion for music therapy, and the perspective she brings as a parent and employee.

Now that we have settled into 2026, we have had some time to reflect on our company's impact throughout 2025.

We invite you to take a look at our report - "Our Year of Music & Impact 2025" - to learn more about who we are and how we have brought music therapy into our community in the past year! 💚🎼

This report highlights some of our programs, including school services, hospital services, Project Harmony Chorus, Staff Beats, and Sprouting Melodies.

GarageBand is an app that musicians use to create, record, and edit music!

At this event, participants will come together for a unique and musically enriching experience. Write and record an original song with multiple choices of instruments.

Programmatic Music Assistant, Andrew Connolly, will help guide you to create a song that will be recorded during the extravaganza and sent to each participant after the event!

Event Details:
📅 Date: Friday, March 20th, 2026
🕖 Time: 3:15-4:15pm
📍 Location: Roman Music Therapy Services, 333 North Ave. Wakefield, MA
🎤Who: Adults of all abilities, ages 18+ (suggested age range). This is open to the public, whether you are a current or former client, or if it will be your first time making music with us! Maximum of 10 participants.
