“ABUSE IS NEVER YOUR FAULT"

Abuse is never something you cause, and it’s never something you deserve. When someone chooses to hurt, control, or scare another person, that is their decision—not a reaction they “couldn’t help.” Many people feel angry, stressed, or overwhelmed without harming the people they care about. Real love never makes you feel afraid.

For teens and young adults, this matters. You’re still learning what healthy relationships look like, and you deserve to know that:

Feeling safe is the minimum.

Respect is non‑negotiable.

Your boundaries matter.

You can always reach out for help if something feels wrong.

You’re not alone, and you’re not responsible for someone else’s harmful choices. Your safety and your voice matter—always.

March is . 💜 Tragically, according to the CDC, nearly half (47.3%) of women in the United States reported experiencing any contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking from a partner at some point in their life. These numbers are often higher for women who are already marginalized and underserved in our communities.

As we reflect on women's history this month, we celebrate the many trailblazing survivors and advocates throughout history who have worked tirelessly to ensure that future generations of women and girls can be safe, healthy, and free from violence and abuse. There's still work to be done.

What you do in the first moments of a loved one’s cardiac arrest can make all the difference. For every minute CPR and AED use are delayed, their chance of survival drops by 7% to 10%.

If someone is in cardiac arrest:
1. Call 911 and ask someone nearby to grab an AED.
2. Start CPR right away and continue until first responders arrive.
2. Use an AED as soon as it’s available.

Feeling confident in these steps starts with getting trained. Take a CPR class and be the person who knows what to do when it matters most.

Launching Women’s History Month

Quote: “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” — Michelle Obama

March is here—and so is the chance to honor every woman who has shaped our lives. Not just the women in the history books, but the grandmother who kept the family together, the single mother who worked two jobs, the auntie who showed up at every school event, the big sister who set the example, and the godmother who always believed in you.

CALL TO ACTION:
Tag a woman who helped you become YOU.

Abuse is NOT normal - it’s a CHOICE. Many people experience anger, sadness and fear without taking those feelings out on someone they care about.

If you need help, call your local domestic violence hotline. That number here in Philly is 1-866-723-3014.

Often, we mention red flags in a relationship, since many abusive partners manipulate feelings and experiences to make it seem like they are not bad.

Red flags are also important to note, since they are signs that things are problematic and could worsen. However, green flags, which are signs of a healthy and positive relationship, are also important to recognize.
