The New Year has a way of carrying a lot of weight. And while fresh starts can be inspiring, they can also come with pressure - the feeling that we should already be moving faster, doing more, or figuring everything out.
Yoga offers a different perspective. It reminds us that change comes from within. Growth happens gradually like a sunrise through trees, it's an ever changing view. Flexibility - physically and mentally - comes from patience, not force. It's the yin to strength's yang.
The studio is a place to decompress. You’re allowed to arrive exactly as you are - and let the practice meet you there to take the long view. To slow down, breathe, and stretch out what feels tight—inside and out. What if rest, steadiness, and presence mattered just as much as progress?
We’re grateful to share this space with you, this week, this month, and all year long. I'm back on the schedule and looking forward to seeing you! There's a Free Community Class on Sunday, January 25th, 12:00-1:00. Please preregister.

Join Sylvia in a cozy healing environment as she guides you through two healing practices:
Energy Medicine Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
Energy Medicine Yoga (EMYoga) blends the ease of yoga with the Chinese Meridian System and Energy Medicine to balance the body’s meridians, chakras and aura for healing. It uses simple, effective self care methods like tapping, breathing and movement to clear energy blocks and create deeper states of relaxation and resilience. to improve focus, find a calmer emotional baseline and feel the profound stillness of conscious rest.
Yoga Nidra alone is a passive, profoundly relaxing practice. Offering a level of rest directly to the nervous system that sleep alone doesn’t always provide. Yoga Nidra helps the body downshift out of stress mode, allowing deep restoration, better sleep quality, and more sustainable energy.
Energy Medicine Yoga + Yoga Nidra: creates the a natural shift from gentle movement to rest with ease. This can lead to:

From a comfortable seated position let's start with a nice breath, inhaling and exhaling. Wait till you feel the breath moving slowly through your belly, ribs, let your shoulders melt as the spine aligns. Now imagine you could go sit at that picnic table. Feel what time of day is it? Season? Temperature? Listening, what do you hear? Invite loved ones to join you (past, present or future). Allow your imagination fill in all the blanks. The first day of a New Year is the perfect moment to explore a starting point like this with a wider lens and possibility.
Nurture this fleeting feeling and amazing things can happen. A practice like this could be as simple as taking 5 conscious breaths, a few cat/cows or child's pose each day. Learn what that makes you feel calm, connected and curious. It's different for everyone. Like yoga.
I'm happy to share that the Y-Stretch community is growing and I'm so excited by it's possibility. My hope is that our cozy studio has been a place for you to feel more open and released that allows your mind, body and spirit to wander in gentle ways. It's your yoga, in your body, with a kind heart and an open mind.

Give yourself the gift of deep rest and renewal as the weekend winds down. Join Candy for a 90-minute Sunday afternoon practice combining Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, designed to restore your body and calm your mind. This class is a perfect way to reset before the week ahead—leaving you refreshed, centered, and nurtured from the inside out. We received so much good feed back from our last class on October 19th!
✨ Yin Yoga: We’ll begin with a grounding Yin practice, holding poses supported by props to gently stretch the connective tissues, release long-held tension, and create more spaciousness in the body.
✨ Yoga Nidra: We’ll close with a guided Yoga Nidra meditation, sometimes called “yogic sleep.” Nestled in stillness, you’ll be guided through a journey of deep relaxation that helps balance the nervous system, reduce stress, and awaken your inner calm.

As the long weekend winds down, take time to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself. This special class weaves together gentle movement, grounding breathwork, and deep relaxation to cultivate gratitude — for your body, your breath, and this moment in time.
Move through slow, fluid stretches to release the weight of the week, breathe into your heart center to restore balance, and close with a guided meditation to welcome inner peace as we move toward the stillness of winter. Raji will complete the practice with singing bowls during savasana. Leave feeling lighter, centered, and reconnected to the quiet abundance within.

This Sunday give yourself permission to slow down, unwind and let go.
Yin yoga balances out the “Yang” energy of daily activity, strength training, or flowing yoga styles. It’s the complement that helps prevent burnout and restore energy.

Our 90-minute class begins with a supportive Yin practice using props adjusted to your level of flexibility to gently open the shoulders, hips, and low back, releasing the tension we carry through the week. Yin poses are held or softened for 3-5 minutes to allow for a deeper release.

We’ll then settle into a blissful Yoga Nidra—a guided meditation known as “yogic sleep”—to restore your nervous system and leave you feeling grounded, peaceful, and renewed.

It's the perfect way to close your weekend and prepare for the days ahead.

Be Flexible is a yoga-based class designed to help increase range of motion, release tension, and move with greater ease. Using breath awareness, stretches, props and proven mobility exercises, we’ll target the areas that tend to hold the most tension — hips, hamstrings, shoulders, and spine — while calming the nervous system and improving circulation.

Candlelight Restorative Yin class with Candy
Friday, October 24th
6:45-8:00 pm

This class combines two unwinding, body opening and delicious practices: Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Both styles move at your own pace, use props adjusted to your range and create slow release with awareness. Candy will guide you through a series of seated and reclined postures, using bolsters, blankets, and blocks for support and release. As you settle into each pose, you’ll be encouraged to focus on your breath, quiet your mind, and allow your body to surrender.
The Yin part of the practice is designed to target the deeper tissues of the body, such as the connective tissues, and to promote the slow unfolding of tension. Yin uses the meridians and Traditional Chinese Medicine to connect energetically. While the Restorative Yoga facilitates full body relaxation and evenness to connect body, mind and spirit together activating the parasympathetic “rest and digest” response. Together they are the perfect antidote to stress, fatigue, and tension. Suitable for students of all levels, including beginners.
What to Expect:
A softly lit, serene space to help you slow down and let your week float away.
Allow yourself to pause, soften, and restore in this tranquil Friday night practice. Leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and ready to embrace the weekend with ease.

Change is beautiful! I can almost hear the crunch of leaves under my feet - I love that sound.
Subtle shifts are always happening - light to dark, warm to cold, dry to wet - and each has an effect on our minds and bodies. We are atmospheric and always changing too.
Showing up for a yoga practice on a regular basis can create positive change, helping the body adapt to the natural shifts of the seasons. Each class is cumulative, layer by layer, we learn more about how it feels to truly be in our bodies.
If you’re restarting a practice, trust that your muscle memory will guide you back. Negative views can shift to a calm outlooks when you mindfully connect breath to movement.
