Wall First Aid & Rescue Squad

Wall First Aid & Rescue Squad We are an independent, non profit, all volunteer organization providing free Emergency Medical Servi In the year 2008 the squad responded to over 1400 calls.

We, the members of the squad, are all volunteers , community members, and most importantly, your friends and neighbors. We take great pride in delivering free Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Rescue assistance to the residents of Wall Township , and providing EMS support to the Glendola and West Belmar Fire Companies. The Wall Township First Aid & Rescue Squad relies on individuals, like yourself, who reside in the township, to help make a difference in a person’s life by being part of a team that provides basic life support in an Emergency Medical Service to your neighbors, friends and relatives. A Registered Nurse, receptionist, a medical sales executive, a company director, a school bus driver, a police officer, a fitness consultant, and a retired school teacher are just some of your neighbors who volunteer their time to help save a life. Dedicated squad members, all volunteers, are lead by a team of officers with a wealth of experience in Emergency Medical Services and provide the knowledge and leadership necessary to maintain the highest standards in patient care in your community. Do not confuse the term volunteer with amateur. Our members are all qualified to perform their duties, and dedicate themselves to maintaining and enhancing their skills. To just ride on an ambulance all members must be certified in Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and be trained in awareness of hazardous materials, the emergency services incident command system, and awareness of weapons of mass destruction. (The latter was mandated by the State in response to the events of 9/11). All drivers are coached in the operation of emergency vehicles. Members that have contact with patients are all Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-Bs) certified by the State of New Jersey to perform their duties, some are additionally certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. In addition many of our members have taken more advanced level training in Pediatric care, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, and Assisting Paramedics. Some of our members through their experience and skill have become certified as instructors and teach in the EMT program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center .

Wall Township has received over 8 inches of wet, heavy snow, significantly more than originally forecasted. While snowfall is tapering off, strong winds and bitter cold temperatures are expected over the next 24–48 hours.

These conditions increase the risk of downed trees and wires, as well as refreezing and black ice, which will make roadways dangerous—especially overnight and during the early morning hours.

Road crews from the state, county, and Wall Township are actively working to keep main roads passable, and additional salting operations are scheduled overnight.

**Allenwood Road will remain closed at least through the night between State Highway 138 and Eighteenth Avenue due to a downed pole**

Residents are urged to:

Use caution when traveling

Avoid downed wires and report them from a safe distance

Limit unnecessary travel during extreme cold and windy conditions

Updates will be provided as conditions change.

🚨 A Message to Our Community: Your Volunteer EMS Is Being Silenced 🚨

For decades, Wall Township’s volunteer EMS squads have proudly served our residents — day, night, holidays, storms, emergencies, and everything in between. We have stood ready with trained, dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills, and heart to this community.

But today, we need to share something deeply concerning.

Despite commitments made during planning meetings — and despite MedStar’s own recommendation that volunteer squads remain the primary responding agencies during respective duty crew times of 6pm-12am— the Township Business Administrator has unilaterally changed dispatch policies, effectively removing Wall’s volunteer EMS from primary 9-1-1 response during duty crew hours.

These changes were made without transparency and in direct contradiction to the agreements discussed with the volunteer organizations who have served this town for generations.

🤯 The result?
Wall Township’s volunteer EMS has been shut down from providing primary duty crew coverage, not because we can’t serve — but because we’re being prevented from serving.

💬 Let’s be clear:
Our volunteers are ready.
Our crews are trained.
Our units are staffed.
We WANT to respond for our residents.

And MedStar — the very agency being brought into town — recommended the volunteers remain primary during duty crew hours. That recommendation was ignored.

This decision doesn’t strengthen public safety.
It doesn’t support volunteerism.
And it certainly doesn’t reflect the commitments made to us or to the people of Wall Township.

We are calling for transparency, honesty, and the reinstatement of the volunteer EMS squads as primary responders — as was planned, agreed upon, and recommended.

❤️ To our residents:
We remain committed to you.
We are still here.
And we will continue fighting to serve the community we love.

Wall First Aid & Rescue Squad was thrilled to welcome the Central School Troop 365 Brownies tonight for an interactive station tour and first aid training session!

The girls had the chance to explore our ambulances, get an up-close look at our life-saving equipment, and practice real first aid techniques with our crew. They also learned one of the most important safety skills of all — how and when to call 911, and exactly what to say to help first responders get there fast.

We’re always proud to support our community’s youth programs and empower the next generation of confident, prepared helpers.

Thank you, Troop 365, for spending the evening with us — we hope to see you again soon! 💛🚑💙
