🍁 As the Seasons Change at Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding… ❄️

The air is crisp, the leaves are falling, and our horses are growing their fuzzy winter coats. With the change of seasons, our Adaptive Riding and Healing with Horses programs are pausing until spring.

Each year, we’re reminded how much these programs mean to our riders, families, and volunteers — and how special it is to see the confidence and connection that happens in the arena. 💙

It’s our vision to become a Four-Season Center, so that no one has to wait for spring to experience the healing power of horses. A new covered round pen would make us one step closer to that dream! 🐴✨

Thank you for helping us create a place of belonging — in every season. 🌦️💙

This week at the farm: We are starting week 5 of our 6-week Fall Adaptive Horsemanship program. Healing with Horses, Pscychotherapy incorporating Horses in partnership with Anchor Point Counseling continues M, T, W, Th afternoons. We trained 11 new volunteers (that is 28 people who have been through new volunteer training & orientation since late August). Our new horse Max has been released from quarantine and he is integrating into the herd. (Not without some scrapes and lessons learned from horses higher up in the herd hierarchy). We had another trailer load (4 tons) of beautiful grass hay delivered. We are totally out of storage space. Our hay barn that holds about 15 tons is full, we have at least 2 tons stacked outside and the new trailer load (all covered with a hay tarp). We are ready for winter. We dismantled the horse panels that we used for Max’s quarantine pen and added 3 new panels and with the help of some awesome volunteers, we have a round pen set up. We are developing a new program for Veterans and First Responders that will utilize the round pen. It will also be nice to have it to exercise horses and train Max. You must know that this all seems like a lot and it is! It all happened while our Executive Director Mary was recovering from surgery. Our staff and volunteers make our world go round. We couldn’t do it without all of you ❤️
