Functional Performance and Athletics: Doctors of Physical Therapy

Functional Performance and Athletics: Doctors of Physical Therapy A physical therapy practice that desires to provide the highest quality of care in the most effient and effective manner!

Functional Performance and Athletics: Doctors of Physical Therapy was started on the desire to provide patient's with the highest level of physical therapy care and skilled interventions from any location (your home, gym, my home). Through working at various jobs over the years, I have seen more emphasis on making money in healthcare as opposed to providing the most optimal care for each patient. When I began physical therapy school, my sole desire was to be the best practitioner I could be. Through my work experiences, I have found it difficult to provide the best possible care for each and every patient that I have come across due to time constraints, productivity requirements, the need to delegate to Physical Therapy Assistants, and only being able perform limited treatment interventions because "insurance doesn't cover that." Functional Performance and Athletics: Doctors of Physical Therapy was created to provide the best possible care to EACH patient that I come into contact with. Essentially, I want to return a patient to full function in the shortest possible amount of time.

If you’ve been dealing with low-back tightness, poor balance, or feeling “weak in the middle,” your core might be the missing link — and that’s exactly what we specialize in.

At our clinic, we don’t just hand you generic ab exercises. We assess how your body moves and build a customized program.

When your core is strong, everything feels easier — lifting, running, working out, and even just sitting at your desk.
✨ If you’re ready to feel stronger, move better, and prevent injury, book a session with us. Your strongest core is one program away.

💥 Anterior Shoulder Pain? Let’s Talk About It.
If the front of your shoulder aches with pressing, reaching, or lifting overhead, you’re not alone. This spot takes on a lot of stress from everyday habits—phones, laptops, workouts, even posture.
The good news? Most cases come from muscles + movement patterns that can be improved with the right guidance.
✨ Common contributors:
• Tight chest + overworked front-shoulder muscles
• Weak or under-recruited rotator cuff
• Poor shoulder blade control
• Repetitive pressing or overhead lifting
✨ What helps:
• Targeted mobility
• Cuff + scap strengthening
• Load management
• Hands-on care when needed
If this sounds like you and you’re ready to get back to moving confidently, we can help you sort out the “why” and build a plan that actually sticks.

As we roll into Thanksgiving and the completion of another 10 week cycle with the Elite Athletic Development squad I wanted to post these DAWGs and let you all know how much you are appreciated. This also goes to all my past kids who’ve moved on as well. I think about each and every one of you more than you know and will always be here for you all.

I feel so fortunate to be around you guys and gals. You fill my cup up more than you know. It’s a real pleasure to watch you all show up in the wee hours of the AM and flat grind to be the best versions of yourselves. Everyone’s journey is different and unique, but it’s always a powerful thing to watch you all support and push each other in this environment. I got the easy job, I just tell you what to do. You guys are the ones that put in the work to chase your respective dreams. It brings me so much joy watching you guys succeed, but it brings me more joy knowing how damn hard you worked to get there. Plenty of people get to watch you succeed at your respective sports when you hit the field of play, but I get to watch the “behind the scenes” work that you put in to show those successes to the world. I do NOT take that for granted and love being a background guy. Everyone that’s been in my program knows that I really only care about 2 things: you respect each other and you work your ass off. It sounds simple, but it’s not easy to show up every day and light this gym up. I’m so thankful for you all, past and present. I feel so lucky to be part of your athletic journey, but I’m more thankful that you all let me in on your lives. The struggles, the highs, the lows, all of it.  That’s the magic in this for me. Most of you won’t make money playing whatever sport you do, but I sure hope you take the skills you learn in the weight room and make “your world” a better one.

Love you all!

P.S. Thank your parents as well would ya! They are the reason you all are what you are!

Your foot/ankle complex is the first point of contact with the earth. If your feet and ankles suck, likely you have found yourself dealing with knee, hip, and/or low back issues at a minimum.

Everyone does a poor job addressing this, I’ve never been in a commercial gym and noticed someone doing specifics for the foot and ankle. Without addressing these issues, it leads to weak links in the chain which hinders athletic performance and everyday activities.

These exercises aren’t glamorous, which is why most skip these. Don’t be that person.

Most of us do not move enough, and our bodies notice!

Tight muscles can be a sign that your body needs a bit of attention. Doesn’t have to take long either.

Over time, your body adapts to what you do most and punishes what you ignore. So get yourself some movement snacks throughout the day.

Struggling with hip and low back pain? We got you!

Low back pain sucks, but research shows the vast majority of the population will experience it at some point. If you do, give these a shot and see if you can’t knock it down! 🔫
