Little Dove Counseling was born from a deep belief that connection is the foundation of healing and family life.

Our founder, Anna Sasser-Christian, grew up in a big, beautifully blended family—nine siblings connected through adoption, foster care, and birth. From an early age, she learned that what truly holds a family together isn’t sameness, but relationship.

At Little Dove, our mission is to help children, parents, and families build the kind of connections that carry them through both the hard and the lovely parts of life.

Because every family deserves to feel safe, seen, and connected.

Being a teen can feel like living between worlds—old enough to think deeply, but still learning how to carry big emotions. Therapy gives teens a space that’s completely theirs—a place to explore who they are, what they feel, and where they’re headed.

At Little Dove Counseling, we help teens navigate anxiety, identity, friendships, and self-esteem through connection, creativity, and compassion. Because when a teen feels understood, healing and growth naturally follow.

A 6-week journey to slow down, reconnect, and strengthen your relationship with your child.

This group is for caregivers who want to understand why children behave the way they do—and how to bring more calm, connection, and confidence into daily family life. Together, we’ll explore the science of attachment, co-regulation, and the nervous system in a warm, supportive space.

Learn. Reflect. Connect. Heal.

Because when you feel grounded, your child feels safe.

What a relief to remember that growth doesn’t come from pushing harder—it comes from feeling safe, seen, and supported. When we focus on connection, curiosity, and presence, growth has a way of unfolding all on its own.

Here’s to trusting the process and tending to what truly nourishes our kids (and us).

Parenting from the Inside Out by Dr. Daniel Siegel and Mary Hartzell is a beautiful, science-based guide that helps parents explore how their own childhood experiences shape the way they connect, react, and nurture today. When we grow in self-understanding, we create more space for patience, empathy, and secure attachment in our relationships with our kids.

This book is a favorite among our therapists—it’s a reminder that healing and growth flow both ways. As we learn to understand ourselves, our children feel it, too.

Parenting is hard. Some days it feels like every choice is under a microscope and every moment carries weight. And yet, when we pause and notice our child’s needs, even in small ways, we’re showing up in the most important way possible.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to be perfect. Empathy for your child starts with empathy for yourself—recognizing that you’re learning, growing, and doing your best.

Connection matters more than control. Small moments of presence, listening, and calm guidance build the bridge your child needs to feel safe and seen.

Finger paints, clay, and glitter aren’t just creative—they’re calming. Expressive arts therapy helps children work through big emotions safely, using their hands and imagination. Sometimes a messy masterpiece is the most important emotional work they’ll do all day.

Adopting a child is a profound journey of love, growth, and connection. Yet, it also brings unique challenges—loss, identity exploration, and the rebuilding of trust. At Little Dove Counseling, we specialize in helping families navigate these complexities with compassion and expertise.

Our adoption therapy services focus on:

-- Understanding Relational Trauma: Recognizing and addressing the emotional wounds caused by disruptions in attachment relationships.

-- Building Secure Attachments: Utilizing play and expressive arts therapies to foster trust and connection between parents and children.

-- Crafting Your Family's Adoption Story: Helping families integrate the child's history with their new life, creating a cohesive narrative that honors both past and present.

Whether you're in the process of adoption or have already welcomed your child, our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Child therapy works best when we shift the focus from correcting behavior to understanding the inner experiences driving it. Every outburst, withdrawal, or perfectionistic moment is a signal from your child’s developing nervous system, often showing where they feel insecure, overwhelmed, or disconnected.

In therapy, we create a safe space where children can explore these feelings, practice regulation, and strengthen their capacity to trust, connect, and express themselves. The goal isn’t just calmer behavior—it’s helping your child grow from the inside out, with resilience, confidence, and a sense of safety in their relationships.
