10/01/2020
As we move toward the end of 2020, we're back to the beginning of flu season on top of the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19. This year is not different as far as the flu goes. We recommend that you get one of two kinds of this year's flu shot. For those who of you who are 65 and over, The FLUAD or Fluzone High Dose flu shots help create a stronger immune response than the standard flu shot. Those of you under age 65 should get the Inactivated Flu vaccine Quarivalent. All of them create an immune response against four strains of the flu. If you're a member of our practice, please call our office in the next few weeks at (925) 952-5545 to schedule your flu shot with our office. We will be offering just flu shot appointments on Friday afternoons. You can also get your flu shot if you're in for another medical visit. We highly recommend everyone gets a flu shot from their doctor or pharmacy.
To protect yourself against the flu, follow similar precautions as to what you've been using against COVID-19:
1. Wash your hands frequently
2. Avoid touching your ears, eyes, face and mouth
3. Wear a mask around other people
4. Stay home when you're sick
5. Socially distance with others
6. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
7. Get plenty of rest, nutrition and fluids
