Blood clots are a serious health issue that can occur for various reasons and affect both men and women of all ages. They happen when the blood thickens and clumps together, obstructing the veins or arteries. Risk factors include obesity, smoking, lack of movement, and chronic medical conditions like diabetes or heart disease. Symptoms/signs of blood clots vary and include swelling, pain, warmth, redness, and discoloration of the skin. If left untreated, blood clots can lead to serious complications like stroke, pulmonary embolism, or heart attack.
