What I finally learned is this: Real freedom didn’t come just from stopping the habits on the surface. It came when I got honest about what I was feeling, faced those old sensations I’d been running from, and connected deeply with myself, even when it was uncomfortable. That’s when the loop broke. That’s when life became something I could actually live—fully, freely, without that old weight holding me down.

I get it. That voice pops right up—your husband is dead, aren't you supposed to feel bad? So, for how long is enough? Am I supposed to duck every time I feel good, waiting for the other shoe to drop?

That’s the conditioned thought process. That’s what I grew up hearing.

With somatic work, I get to notice how these old thoughts tie themselves to the sensations in my body—and I get to resolve them.

I choose to feel good today, and that’s okay.
