If your spring allergies feel worse in Northern California, there’s a reason.

Mild winters.
Winter rains boost plant growth.
High pollen-producing trees.
Wind spreads pollen easily.
Agricultural exposure increases overall pollen levels.

In the East Bay, allergy season often overlaps — meaning symptoms can last for months.

If allergies are disrupting daily life, it may be time to review your treatment options with a medical provider.

You can feel fine — and still be at risk.

Colon cancer often develops silently, without early symptoms.

Screening detects changes before symptoms begin.

If you’re 45 or older, talk to your primary care provider about getting up to date.

Don’t wait for symptoms.

Colonoscopy or at-home test? You have more than one way to screen for colon cancer.

A colonoscopy is done every 10 years if normal and allows doctors to detect AND remove precancerous polyps during the procedure.

At-home stool tests are done yearly and are less invasive — but if results are abnormal, a colonoscopy is still required.

The most important thing? Getting screened.

Talk to your primary care provider about which option is right for you.

Heart disease is no longer just an “older adult” issue.

Dr. Victorina Hoffmann is seeing cardiovascular risk factors earlier — sometimes in patients in their 30s and 40s who feel healthy and active.

High blood pressure, cholesterol, stress, and sleep patterns all play a role — even if you exercise regularly.

Prevention works best before symptoms develop.

Heart disease prevention doesn’t begin in the emergency room — it begins in primary care.

As Dr. Victorina Hoffmann shares, the goal is to help patients stay ahead of heart disease through early awareness and prevention — not catch up after symptoms appear.

Routine visits, blood pressure tracking, and lab trends matter more than many people realize.
